Suspect of Cat Killings

A teenager named Tyler Weinman, 18, who was allegedly involved in a string of cat killings and mutilations that plagued Cutler bay and Palmetto Bay in Florida, was finally nabbed by the police on June 14.

More than two dozens of cats were murdered at night in the past 2 months where cat remains were found on the lawns or driveways of the cat owners. Weinman was charged with 19 counts of animal cruelty, 19 counts of improperly disposing of an animal body and 4 counts of burglary.

Weinman’s parents have been divorced and living in separate areas in Cutler Bay and Palmetto Bay, which marks the geographic reach of the murders. Police had been trailing him for weeks. With help from the community, they successfully arrested him when he was at a party in Coral Gables.

Police suspect that the crimes involved multiple suspects, and are still under investigation to try to get more leads out of Weinman. On the other hand, Weinman was trying to negotiate with the police by offering partial information in exchange for a deal. However, the negotiation soon ended after Weinman requested to speak with an attorney.

This has raised an alarm to many cat owners that the best way to keep your cats safe is to keep them indoors.

  2. I am glad they caught this monster. When I was just 10 years old my cat, Midnight beautiful black cat was murdered on Halloween by group teenagers. I was heart broken. I know the grief of having a loved one like my pet Midnight taken away. I hope he rots in jail. They should punish criminals more severally like animal killings like they do for human murders in my opinion.
