Cat Food Recall (Most Up to Date List)

The 2007 massive cat food recall raised a huge red flag to the public that manufacturing process taken overseas or importing food ingredients from a country outside the US could potentially compromise the food quality due to lack of supervision.

Most of the recalls that issued back in 2007 involved outsourcing manufacturers such as those from China where a large amount of melamine was added to falsify the protein level in the cat food. Unfortunately many domesticated pets suffered or died because of this food contamination. My very first long-haired white cat was a victim among many. The number of cats that suffered from kidney or liver disease went sky high. In fact it was much higher than dogs because of the protein level cats require from their diet. Many large brands were also involved in this blunder.

My suggestion is when you look for a cat food brand, find something that is not on the recall list because that could mean that their food is possibly imported or manufactured overseas. Then choose a product that has the key ingredients that you are looking for. Cats are obligated carnivores, so their food should not contain a lot of grains.
