Two kittens were dumped over the Causeway bridge (the world’s longest bridge) in Louisiana on September 17. Only one kitten survived the ordeal. Police received a report, saying a kitten was spotted on the bridge around noon. By the time they got there, they found the kitten tucked underneath a railing.
The Humane Society of Louisiana has put up a $10,000 reward for people who would come forward to help generate new leads and hopefully capture the person who threw the kittens out of a vehicle on the bridge.
Over years, police have found numerous abandoned animals on the Causeway bridge. Both cats and dogs are victims in these animal crualty cases.
They named the rescued kitten “Matty” who received a few wire stitches on his mouth and lower jaw because he was hit by the pavement after being tossed. Matty has been homed to a friend of a Causeway officer. She introduced Matty to a new feline friend who is only 7 weeks old.
Animal cruelty is a severe felony that can send a convict to prison for up to 10 years.
