Tiny Bitty Ball of Cute

A tiny new born kitten was given a second chance at life. His eyes aren’t even opened yet. The little fuzzball is now in good hands with plenty of food and lots of TLC.

According to Megus, the kitten “was abandoned by the mother (cat) on day 1, just a few hours before these pictures were taken.” Now the little one has a place to call home.

What an adorable tiny kitten! How sad the Mama abandoned it. Strange how some mothers (not only cat moms) will do that! SO glad this darling little one was saved. Thank you for your great heart for rescuing him/her! :)

  8. Patricia Brown says:

Mothers usually do not just capriciously abandon their babies. She most often does it in response to stresses like an inadequate food supply, or senses the little one wont survive anyway and so wastes her resources on it better used for the healthy ones. It is a tough world out there when there is no one to help. She may have had too many kittens to care for adequately. Or was moving her babies (to prevent predation) and had to run back to the nest and got frightened away from the one she did move. The rescuer would watch the area where the kit was found to see if she comes looking.
Please spay and neuter your pets to prevent and reduce this situation.

I agree with Patricia, something was wrong. I hope the little one made it. Any chance of a follow up story to see how they are now? Thanks!

    • Sue says:

I agree with Patricia. I also hope this little one grows to be healthy and loved. Please spay/neuter every pet! Please don’t breed or buy while shelter pets die.

  21. Kirby's Mom says:

Poor little thing. I hope he pulls through. Infant kittens need a lot of everything! But it can be done. Good luck to you and little Megus!
Maybe Mamma got hit by a car or there were birthing complications. I mean there was only one kitten. This tiny thing is too little to have wandered away. or maybe something scared the Mamma cat while she was carrying him? We’ll never know.

Outdoor kitties do have a shortened lifespan. Even if they have a home to go back to!

What a beautiful baby! I have a 6 year old cat that I hand raised because the mom did the same thing….he was the 9th kitten & half the size of the others. It’s like having any newborn baby, feed him, love him, help him potty, and keep him warm and happy! Good luck!

  33. Debra Olsen says:

:-) So glad the baby was rescued. A little doll for sure. I have a former stray tabby who *found* me. He was 21 & 1/2 #. He is diabetic & I give him insulin shots twice a day….for the past 2-3 yrs. His name is Dolly (he was so big in the tummy that I thought he was a pregnant female for quite some time, hence his name. His name fits him to a tee so I opted not to change it. Keep up the good work! :-)
