Tabby Rescued from a Pile of Wood and Cobwebs

This tiny tabby kitten was trapped in a pile of old wood, crying for help, but a kind Samaritan came to the rescue.

Scott Allan who found the kitty wrote on his facebook: Walked outside this morning and heard what sounded like a bird, or squirrel, or something. Traced the sound to our side yard, and there he was, trapped in a junk pile of old wood and cobwebs. He wouldn’t come to my call and any attempt to get my arm in there just made him back up and disappear. Soooo long story short, the shed is now without siding as that was the only way to get to him. He’s just under 0.5 pounds and is barely 3-weeks old (at the vet’s best guess). He seems to be in decent health considering my brother said he heard something, now thinks it was this guy, about 5-days ago. Soooo if anyone has any name suggestions for our new family member, let’s hear ‘em.

Fortune because that is one fortunate feline! My 2 tabbies were about that age/size when I rescued them. They are attched to me like glue. Mine just turned 7 but still suckle my pillow every night.
Beautiful little baby. Glad he found a home.

  7. Donna says:

Little one needs kitty formula to fatten up and get healthy. Check with your vet for a feeding bottle.
We rescued a little one many years ago and bottle fed him. Be prepared to have your fingers and hands to be a bit on the shredded side…lol. Good luck!

Well, someone already posted “Woody” before I got to it, so, the runner-up is “Gomer” (as in Gomer PYLE).

  18. Terri says:

What about Parker, for Peter Parker (spiderman). :D

  19. Anneke says:

would name it Scotty, after the guy who saved it

  20. Glenn says:

I would go with the name ‘Spider’ – in native tradition Spider has an interesting mythology -Cherokee (Native American): A popular Cherokee tale credits Grandmother Spider with bringing light to the world. According to legend, in the early times everything was dark and no one could see at all because the sun was on the other side of the world. The animals agreed that someone must go and steal some light and bring the sun back so people could see. Possum and Buzzard both gave it a shot, but failed – and ended up with a burned tail and burned feathers, respectively. Finally, Grandmother Spider said she would try to capture the light. She made a bowl of clay, and using her eight legs, rolled it to where the sun sat, weaving a web as she traveled. Gently, she took the sun and placed it in the clay bowl, and rolled it home, following her web. She traveled from east to west, bringing light with her as she came, and brought the sun to the people.

    Squirrely.

  22. Mysty says:

Yes given his beginning circumstances I would suggest Woodrow. or Woody for short. He is adorable.

  23. Donna Arthurs says:

This story is very much like mine where I found 3 almost newborn kittens dumped in my back yard. They didn’t get there accidentally, they couldn’t have gone over the high fence, SOMEONE DROPPED THEM OVER THE FENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What if I wasn’t a cat lover??? I was able to feed them and care for them for 3 weeks before they went to their new homes.

  24. Rusti says:

It appears that Woody just might be the proper name for this little guy! How lucky he is that you rescued him. Saw earlier posts about kittie formula and tiny bottles – both are excellent suggestions. Best of luck with this little one – and be sure and check back with updates – we all thoroughly enjoy them!

What a heartwarming story of a special human dad who was willing to go the extra mile to rescue this little bundle of joy! 37. claire says:

WOODIE is my vote. I inherited one about 2 weeks old that my nephew found (while mowing lawn) at the base of a 200 year old water oak tree. Don’t know how he got there, why, or when but I took him in,& immediately named him ‘OAKIE’. He was about 6 oz. when found & now 1 month later he weighs 1.9 lbs. thanks to goat milk (myenberg available at wal-mart) & baby bottle from vet.
He’s not as pretty as WOODY, obviously FERAL, all black w/ black whiskers, has an adorable face & in the biting stage now. He is very friskie w/ endless energy & has won my heart as I’m sure WOODY has won your heart. Scott you are special.
