It’s bitter cold in Montreal. These two feral cats have taken refuge in a family’s solarium. The father of the family came up with an ingenious idea to keep the mom cat and her kitty warm and cozy.
“They’ve been around since last summer, but only in the yard and behind the shed. We started feeding them a little. First time they get so close… My parents did all the job, my dad is retired and I think he’s having fun taking care of them,” said reddit user trollivier.
Freezing temperature in Montreal (-33 Celsius or -27.4 Fahrenheit with windchill). Feral cat mom and her kitty found refuge in the family’s solarium.

They wouldn’t let anyone near them. When the family tried to approach them, they ran, so they kept the door open for them.

They offered them food…

As long as they keep themselves behind the patio door, the kitties trust them.

The solarium is still pretty cold, but much better without the wind.

They installed a heating lamp and gave the kitties a hot cozy blanket fresh out of the dryer to keep them warm.

AWESOME..I’ve rescued 12 and they all live in the house. I’m in Oklahoma so we don’t get as cold as you all do.
Thanks for helping this kitty family out!!
Thank God for these loving, caring people! May God bless you!
So sweet! The fuzzy one looks like my Zeki! Poor cold babies! So sweet you take care of them!! Good job!
What a kind family!
Awwwwwwwwww what good people…these cats don’t look like strays…
Stories like this give me hope for humanity. Thank you for being so good to these kitties!
Wonderful story!
So bittersweet!
&
all at the same time.
Time and patience will have them coming around to the idea of sharing their space with hoomans. They may never, ever, be loving indoor kitties, but they’ll eventually reach a point where they’re not terrified of the family.
Great idea, and I love that they’re patience and will to help them
*without that, sorry
awwwwwwwwwww, what awesome caring and loving people. These cats are very lucky! I love stories like this. ♥
Bravo! C’est super gentil de vous occuper d’eux ainsi!! It is super nice of you to take care of them like this!!! Thanks a million from my cats and me
God bless! Agreed with Maysoun that they don’t look like complete strays/ferals – the “kitten” looks awfully big. So great for the family to take care of them in any event.
May God bless them for letting these kitties stay inside. They are both very cute!
I LOVE CANADIANS!!!!!!!
Bless this family for taking care of a single mom and her baby.
what beautiful kittens, and what beautiful people, great story.
…absolutely agreed.
Bravo! They look like my ferals and thanks for the tips to make them more comfy!
So wonderful of you & others to take it upon yourselves to help & look after feral kitties you encounter. Kudos to all…
Bless you for caring for those beautiful cats!!!
Awwww……sweet
thanx for rescuing these 2 kittys
How precious. Please spay/neuter so they do not create even more unwanted animals.
Sucjh kind people bless you and your family!
Now you should get them fixed or you will have lots more kitties to keep warm next winter.
Wow, very beautiful cats! Good job helping them
They are beautiful, I agree!
They should try to trap them and have them spayed/neutered. Otherwise there will be more and more “feral” kittens.
I agree with Zoes Ma, get them to a vet or an organization that will spay and neutered them…. then return them to your solarium if foster homes can’t be found… or, possibly, this wonderful family may choose to keep this little family together and continue doing as much for them as they will allow. Thanks to kind people like them.
Ma & Laura, trap & release would be ideal, agreed. One step at a time…so happy that the poor angels are out of the bitter, winter Canadian elements. May the force be with you! (The heat lamp is a great idea)
So adorable! I love kind hearted people!
hope they will come in and stay. Thanks for caring for them!
That is so kind if you. You are very loving and caring people. I took in a mother cat and her two kittens into our home over two years ago. We feed them outdoors until it got cold out and they were literally climbing on our screen door to get in. We took them in and never looked back. Since then we have been feeding about 8 strays who will stay outside our door only when its closed. My husband built them a “house” with a Rubbermaid container with hay in it but we have never seen them go in. We do not have a porch or solarium. Anybody have any ideas how we can keep them warm outdoors in a low budget? We worry about them.
Yes, heartfelt thanks to this wonderful family for taking in these kitties! I live 80 miles east of Montreal and we have been in a bitter cold deep freeze for days now. Feel so sorry for any strays outside. A heat lamp is very helpful and does give off a lot of heat.
LOVE the Kitty LOVERS!!! Thanks for taking care of these precious kitties!!!
It is heartwarming that this family is doing the best they can for these two. Some shelter is better than none and I’m sure they are grateful this may be the start of earning their trust.
Tres bien! So wonderful that you’ve done this for these poor babies, who would have frozen if it weren’t for your kindness. They are both so beautiful, I hope they warm up to you and want to stay inside for good, it’s healthier for them overall. As another post mentioned, you are earning their trust by doing this for them. If you cannot keep them, please try to find a forever home for them, they are so precious! Thank you for doing this for them.
Aww…..!! That’s so sweet!!! I actually cried because of this family’s kindness!
Bless the family for keeping these kitties warm comfy and fed! Another heartwarming story – what a great way to start the day! Thank you!
Ahhh, so kind people!
Kind people and ¡gorgeous kittens!!. Congrat.
So sweet that they gave them the blanket…must keep them warm and comfortable!
Wonderful!
lol just make sure when you have them spayed that you continue to leave the door open.. they will never leave. I adopted a feral Mom and her two kittens from our garage. They have never taken off even with the door open. They run the opposite way from the open door. one kitten has become friendly with us.. he is 2 years old now but the mother and other kitten is still shy. I sometimes think the Mother is getting closer as she loves to sleep on my shoes and my side of the couch when I am not there.
Glad they have shelter.
You guys are AWESOME. Those kittehs are so lucky they found you guys.
