Cat Greets Cyclist By Climbing On His Backpack

A kitty came to greet a cyclist by climbing on his backpack. “When I stopped cycling this cat came out of the woods. I bent down to pet her then she crawled up my arm and sat on my backpack,” said via imgur.

“I was cycling out this weekend to help marshal the Two Tunnel running race here in Bath. I stopped at the entrance to the Combe Down Tunnel, a mile-long tunnel and saw a cat come running out of the woods. She came over for a some tummy rubs then climbed up my arm and settled down on my backpack,” he added via reddit.

The cyclist believes that the cat belongs to a family nearby. “There are lots of houses nearby and she’s well fed. I’m up at the tunnels a lot so I’ll keep an eye out anyway.”

Marshaling at the Two Tunnels today, he picked up a little helper.

Tiny Calico Kitten Rescued Hours After Birth

Meet Kairi, a tiny survivor, who was found on the road just hours after she was born. “She’s almost four weeks old now. My husband and I found her crawling across the road a few hours after she was born. She had her umbilical cord and placenta still attached,” said Rachel via reddit.

They took the tiny baby home and gave her food, a warm place to nap and plenty of love. “She sleeps in a rubbermaid tub next to me and gets fed every 2-3 hours,” she said. “I haven’t gotten much sleep in a while, but she’s so worth it.”

“We decided not to name her until she opened her eyes in case she didn’t make it. Her name is Kairi!”

“I’m crazy in love with her and she’s been doing great!”

Lupo The Giant Maine Coon Cat

Meet Lupo the giant 30 lb. Maine Coon cat. “He’s also extremely cuddly and doubles as a purring blanket in winter,” said Lupo’s human mom via reddit.

“I’m 4’10”, but he is still a pretty big boy,” she added. “He’s actually not quite done growing yet. Lupo’s almost three, and Maine Coons generally finish growing at five. He’s got time to become even more fluffy. He was the size of a ‘typical’ cat at three months.”

“(Maine Coons) also happen to be the largest breed of cat, not counting Savannahs. They are long-haired, but that insulation works both ways- keeps the heat in in the winter, and keeps it out in the summer. They are wonderful! Not only do you get a lot of cat to love, but they are amazing loyal, playful, and are generally your buddies from day 1.”

“He loves getting his belly rubbed, and even flops down on the floor, purring unexpectedly,” she wrote. “He follows me from room to room, and I know when he lies on the floor, stomach up, he actually wants belly-rubs.”

Meet String The Calico Boy

Only one out of every 3,000 calico cats is male, and this little foster kitten is one of them. Meet String!

String came to Southern Pines Animal Shelter (in Southern Mississippi) through animal control. “He was a little too small, when he arrived, to thrive and stay healthy in the shelter environment, so he was sent into foster in one of our wonderful foster homes,” Southern Pines said.

“Female cats have two X chromosomes, while male cats have an X and a Y chromosome. For a cat to be a calico or tortoiseshell, the animal must have two X chromosomes, which means the kitty is going to be female the vast majority of the time. When the calico pattern exists in a male, it’s because the cat has three sex chromosomes: two X, one Y (male),” DR. Marty Becker wrote via VetStreet. “And if both X chromosomes carry the calico blueprint, you’re looking at one rare cat: a male calico.”

“String is doing really well in his foster home, and enjoying life as a spoiled kitten. When he is old enough and heavy enough, he will be ready for adoption,” Southern Pines added.

Rescue Cat & Military Man Happy To Be Home

Their new rescue kitty is having a cuddle session with his new human dad who just came home after serving in the military.

“My brother came home from the navy last month and we adopted Romeo almost two weeks ago from my extremely neglectful neighbors. Both are happy to be home,” said the sister via reddit. “I think [Romeo] has become quite attached!”
