I could never imagine that scratching posts could be beautiful until I bumped into this website. It is called The Company of Pets. They have the most amazing cat scratching posts I have ever seen.

The black cat silhouette can be hung on the wall or placed on the floor. Kitties can ride on the little puppy or rest on a comfy scratching chair. They will look great for our interior home design, but I have to warn you that the prices are not low at all. The chairs cost $575 each and the scratching puppy would cost someone an arm and a leg with an unbelievable price tag of $1,200. Even the silhouette costs $200. They look luxurious indeed and they are all hand-made, so a lot of the costs go into the labor.

Would You Buy It – The Cat Cocoon

from one form design

Kudos to people who are going green and using eco-friendly products. However, lately it seems that the eco-friendly idea is used more as a marketing scheme to jack up prices of products instead of selling them at what they are really worth.

Look at this oval shaped pet furniture. It is called the Cat Cocoon. By the way it looks, the name is pretty self-explanatory. The Cat Cocoon is made with layers of corrugated cardboard glued together to form the shape of a cocoon. The furniture piece can serve as a scratching post, cat tree and also a condo (believe it or not). Basically it is a multi-functional pet furniture that is designed to satisfy your cats’ many needs.

Material:

The structure is made of double-wall corrugated cardboard and water-base glue. No I am not leaving out anything. That’s all it is made of.

Interesting Cat Trees

by Amy B. on Oct 24th, 2009 | no comment »

There are so many different designs for cat trees. Some of them are really modern and sleek where others literally resemble a real tree. Let’s take functionality aside and just focus on the aesthetic part of the products. Some of the cat tree designs truly stand out.

This is a beautiful toy-brick modern cat tree from catsweet.com. They stack up boxes in a zig-zag fashion where the boxes have many holes on the sides and top to give cats passages. The holes on the sides are shaped as a cat face with paw prints decorated atop.

Review – Fancy Cat Furniture

by Amy B. on Oct 23rd, 2009 | 1 Comment

Talking about high-end cat furniture, I came across this company named Pet-Interiors that has some really neat furniture designs. They are nothing like what I have seen before, both design and price.

This cat bed is made of a felt basket that is made 100% wool with a soft cushion inside. It sounds and looks pretty luxurious, but let’s take a look at the appendages. They make you wonder why they are made that way. One of the reasons could be that it’s for fashion. Having something chic and fashion forward instead of some old-style cat bed. However, you will  probably find your cat face wiping the protrusion quite often. That’s a way for them to leave their scents and claim the bed as their own.

Where do Your Cats Sleep

by Amy B. on Aug 14th, 2009 | no comment »

We got 2 new cat beds. One is a lovely Kitty Willow Bed made of hand woven natural willow branches. It goes well with family decor and comes with a  comfy cushion inside.

It was on sale at Petsmart the other day, so we had to get it. We were crossing our fingers that our cats would like it. Guess what? Here is their verdict:

The other bed we got is from Whisker City, a tray like bed with 3 raised red edges, cozy, velvety like nude-colored inner cover. It feels luxurious when you touch it. Do the cats like it? Check out what Jackie thinks:

Our cat, Shadow is not a big fan of cat beds because he likes human beds or the carpet better. Here is a picture of him lounging on the floor, stretched out completely relaxed.

Edited: Just found out that Shadow likes both beds, probably more than how much the other 2 do :-) . I am pleasantly surprised.
