Meet Muir. He is sixteen years old, blind and deaf, and lived as a stray, fending for himself for nearly a year. “I intend to give this old man a more comfortable retirement,” said ladyonawire.

“I work with a rescue. This old guy was living outside for close to a year; he had belonged to an older lady in the neighborhood who passed away,” she added.

Muir was abandoned until a kind neighbor rescued him and turned him over to the rescue. They shaved his matted coat and gave him plenty of food, warmth and love.

“My rescue asked if I wanted to foster him and I was like… I’m adopting him. I’ve had him for about two months now and he’s put on nearly a pound and his fur is growing back beautifully.”

“He got a full blood workup and physical when he came in. Even got some much-needed dental work! The vet actually said his thyroid was fine; that in fact he was in shockingly good shape for his age and how much he’d been through.”

“The first night I brought him home he slept on a heating pad on my bed. He was so skinny he looked like a plucked chicken–he just passed out and spent the first couple of days sleeping in every warm/soft spot he could find.”

“Now his personality has come out and he’s a super sweet if slightly grumpy and bossy old man. He likes to perch on the edge of the bed and reach out with his paw to grab me when I pass by.”

A week ago Kitty Adventure Rescue League shared a story on reddit about their rescue cat Bonnie, a deaf and blind cat with brain damage, and how nothing could stop her from getting in the holiday spirit. The story touched many people’s hearts over the internet. On this New Year’s Eve, a lot of gifts and love are pouring in for Bonnie from those who were touched by this brave little tortie girl.

“A week ago I posted a festive photo of Bonnie, our blind, deaf, and severely brain damaged cat, on reddit. The response was amazing. Since then we have been receiving a steady stream of generous donations for the cats. We are absolutely speechless.

We have received over 350 cans of food, 250 lbs of dry food, 200 lbs of litter, along with cardboard scratchers, carriers, carpet scratcher, beds, cleaners, puppy pads, air fresheners, and much much more!” (Facebook)

Bonnie the reindeer cat is blind and deaf, but she doesn’t let anything stop her from getting in the holiday spirit.

“She’s 18, blind and deaf, but still one of the coolest cats around,” said the human via reddit. “She knows where her food is, where her spot on the couch is, and where (the litter box is)…”

Despite all that, she is always playful and happy.

Two white kitties, a mother and her son, both have gorgeous blue eyes and both are deaf, find their forever home together.

They were hiding behind the dryer as they first settled into their new home. “The pregnant mum was rescued after living on her own in a field for years. Her kittens were all homed except this boy who was too timid,” said their human via flickr.

They adopted the mother and son since they also had a deaf cat at home and thought they would be good company for her.

It’s a purrfect home for these special kitties.

Mimo a beautiful odd-eyed white kitty was born to a feral cat that was rescued by Craig Street Cats. She may be partially deaf, but that doesn’t stop her from being a little ball of energy that she is.

Nicole said via Good Morning Kitten: “Mimo was adopted from Craig Street Cats in Winnipeg, Canada, an organization that focuses on handling our feral cat population. She would have been born to a feral queen who was brought in — unfortunately I never got to know her full history. I adopted her at the start of August to keep my other cat, Rosencrantz, company, after noticing behavioral problems from him related to being bored or lonely. He certainly isn’t anymore! The day I brought her home, she was practically glued to him, purring as she nuzzled up to him and mimicked everything he did.”
