scaredy cat survivor gains trust and shows love
She looked so sad and scared. Her human couldn’t say no!

This is what love can do. It gave this kitty hope to trust and love again.

Three months ago, Shiloh the orange and white cat was absolutely terrified of everything. “She spent most of the first month with me hiding under the bed and running anytime I got close to her,” said reddit user yokj6.

“This little girl is the biggest scaredy cat ever. She flinches away from lovins and runs and hides if you even sneeze. Her tail has been broken, but she’s a survivor.”

She had a hard time trusting people. Her tail has been broken. She may have had a difficult past.

In just a few months, Shiloh made the biggest turn-around.

“As I was going through all the pictures I’ve taken of her… I cried a little bit just thinking about how absolutely terrified of me she used to be, and how huge of a change there has been in her. I’m so happy I took a chance and adopted her.”

The morning after adoption: “She looks tired, and continues to flinch away when I try to pet her, although she is leaning into the lovins and purring after a few seconds.”

17 year old abandoned cat finds new home

Kiki the 17 year old cat tells her new family how happy she is everyday to have a place to call her forever home!

“At 17 years old, Kiki was dumped at a shelter. We rescued her and now she tells us everyday how happy she is,” Kitty Adventure Rescue League wrote. “She really likes her new family here at KARL.”

Kiki’s previous owner passed away, and the family decided to drop her off at the shelter. “We couldn’t just let her stay there,” KARL wrote. “We run a sanctuary for special needs and geriatric cats. You’d be surprised how many people would rather dump the old cat at a shelter or on the streets…”

Luckily for Kiki, she will no longer stay at a shelter. Now she has a permanent home with humans that love her to bits.

On the day Kiki was rescued from the shelter.

Russell the incredible orange cat has been giving a helping paw to animals in need at a clinic, despite that he was saved from a fire.

Russell is a patient at the Animal Emergency Hospital and Urgent Care Clinic in Raleigh, North Carolina for more than a year. He was found in the rubble after a fire that destroyed a home and left him with severe burns in early 2014.

“He was pretty far gone, and we didn’t know if he would make it,” said Alan Wilford to the Dodo. “He has taken a long time, but he has made a miraculous recovery.”

Russell needs constant medical attention for his recovery, but he’s done the unthinkable during his stay at the clinic. This friendly ginger cat has offered comfort to other animals in need of care.

“He’s incredible engaging. He wants to meet all our patients. He just wants to be with them,” Wilford said. “I don’t know if he can sense that other animals are in pain or have stuff going on, but he does seem to have some weird knack for connecting with patients, even when you wouldn’t think they would.”

“I think he helps other animals feel at ease. We’re a clinic, so I’m sure he helps alleviate their stress,” he said. “…he likes to be with other animals. And it’s not all about him. He really enjoys giving companionship to others.”

“Russell is doing great! He continues to make all kinds of new friends, including this little fawn.”

Russell may not be well enough to return to his former life, according to the clinic, but he will never be short of love.

“He’s adopted us,” Wilford said. “He’s a rock star here. Everyone wants to see him, and he just eats it up. I don’t know if he’d like being a normal house cat again, so we’d be happy to keep him as our clinic mascot.”

Freeway, cat rescued from Valley freeway, finally goes home with rescuer Richard Christianson

A brave man stopped in the middle of a freeway to rescue a cat holding onto a metal fence while no one else wanted to do it.

A cat was seen clinging to a Valley freeway fence, meowing for help. Richard Christianson spotted the kitty and knew right away that he had to rescue the cat.

“It’s crazy how people just assumed this cat was hit by a car and was dead,” he posted on Facebook. Rescue groups told him that it was too dangerous to get the cat while car raced by around him. “(The cat) wasn’t dead or hit by a car, it was just stuck on the freeway …the cat was scared and dehydrated.” He decided to take the matters into his own hands.

Richard walked along the freeway himself to rescue the terrified cat. “He (looked) at me in total surprise and as if he was asking me to save him. The poor little guy seemed joyous and relieved to see me. There was no struggle whatsoever – he just went lump in my arms and started to purr,” Christianson told ABC15.

“I was presented a situation in life where I had the opportunity to help out a little (furry) friend who was in a bad jam in which I chose to take part in and help out,” he wrote. “As humans we all should look out for one another…. A life is a life… (Regardless) if it’s skin, fur, feathers, or scales.”

He named the cat Freeway and took him to the Arizona Humane Society for medical attention. After more than 30 days of recovery including two surgeries, this orange kitty was finally ready to go home with the person who saved him!

Freeway, an American Curl cat, has been through quite a lot. Christianson is willing to do whatever within his power to make Freeway feel comfortable and loved in his new home. “I’ve got too much invested in this baby to let him fail.” he said. (ABC15)

“A few seconds of kindness can last a lifetime,” he added.

Rescue Cat Merlin Sets New World Record for Loudest Purr

Merlin, a rescue kitty from Torquay, Devon (UK) is now officially world’s loudest purrer!

The Guinness World Records just confirmed that Merlin has the loudest purr by a domestic cat, registered at 67.8 decibels which beats the previous record of 67.68 decibels set by Smokey the cat back in 2011.

The 13 year old tuxedo cat was adopted from an animal rescue center. The family adores his loud purr. “Occasionally when he’s really loud I have to repeat myself. When you’re watching films you have to turn the telly up… If he’s eating he’ll purr loudly. I can hear him when I’m drying my hair,” Tracy Westwood said.

“If he’s cleaning he gets louder and sometimes if the telephone rings I do get people asking me what’s that noise in the background, I tell them it’s the cat but I don’t know if they believe me.”

Merlin’s purr is about as noisy as a conversation or an air conditioner and nearly as loud as a shower or a dishwasher according to Guinness World Records.

“It was amazing to see just how loud his purr was in person and, despite a couple of readings of Merlin’s purr just under the current record, a bowl of tuna cat food proved to make all the difference and secure the record,” GWR spokesman Jamie Clarke said.

Some local media previously came to visit Merlin and recorded his purr at around 100 decibels…

Guinness World Records was intrigued and came to verify it. They used a system to measure the purr and recorded Merlin’s purr to be at 67.8 decibels. Here’s a preview of Merlin’s record-setting purr on Make You Laugh Out Loud 2.

missing cat rescued from dried well emotional reunion

It’s a story with a purrfect ending!

A woman was overcome with joy after her missing cat Roscoe was found and saved from a dried up well.

Roscoe went missing about two weeks ago. When neighbors heard fainted meows from an Oceanside dry well, they called firefighters for help.

About a dozen of men came to the scene. After they made sure the air was safe in the well, a young firefighter Danny Leboff descended into the narrow well, and Roscoe was brought back above ground, couldn’t wait to get out.

“The cat was ready to go, that’s for sure,” said Fire Chief John Madden.

Roscoe’s human was overwhelmed with joy when she saw her beloved tabby cat. “She was very emotional… she couldn’t believe it was her cat,” Madden said. “I think she had given up on seeing him again.”

“She was just hysterical,” said Emma Ryan. “Everyone was clapping and cheering when the cat came out. It was such a happy Mother’s Day. Everyone’s a cat lover.”

“It feels good when you bring them back to their owners,” Madden said.

Roscoe the cat had gone missing for 2 weeks.

A man went to the store to get cat food, but ended up adopting a 25 lb rescue cat. Pumpkin the cat literally squeaked at him when they opened the cage door for them to meet.

“Look at this guy. Sweetest cat ever. Since he’s from the UK, and we live on a street called Hebron, we’ve renamed him. Meet Pumpkin Cumberbatch Pierce, the Duke of Hebron,” reddit user GREGORIOtheLION wrote.

“When I walked into the PetSmart to get food, I saw this dude, Pumpkin, in the SPCA adoption center. His paperwork said he was 25 lbs and came from England. His owners brought him here and had a kid, so they dumped him after 6 years because he was ‘too needy’. Whatever.”

“I called my wife in from the car because when the employee opened the cage for me, he literally squeaked at me. It was love at first sight for us.”

“With the adoption came instructions that we need to get his weight down. Which we’ve done before with our other cat. The vet said he’s actually 21.8 lbs, and we need to get him to 13. He’s the most affectionate cat we’ve ever had. We normally don’t keep the name they come with, but what else do you call a 25 lb orange cat?”

“He’s digging the office, where we’re keeping him while he and our other cat get to know each other. Loves the tree.”

“Upon letting our other cat, Bartleby, into the office (trading them out for a few minutes), he smells everything in sight. While Pumpkin just lays on the couch to say “I don’t need to smell anything. I’m home.”
