She's 20 years old, missing a few teeth, and has bad memory, but this kitty loves life to the fullest and never tires to tell her humans how happy she is every single day!
Meet Britches!
In April, 2011, Britches left her miserable life behind after Karyn Poplin took a chance on her while others didn't think she was "worth it". Karyn saved this mistreated, grossly overweight cat and brought her home.
On her first day home, the sweet tabby waddled up to her rescuer, snuggled next to her and wouldn't leave her side. The sweet old gal has been Karyn's little shadow, following her around ever since.
Britches came with a lot of health issues - She's epileptic, missing some teeth and has bad memory, but she has never given up on life.
"She can only turn to the left, gets in the way, wakes up in a new place every single day (memory loss), and doesn't always make it to a litter box, but she's my Britches and she's perfect," Karyn said.
Britches may get a bit lost at times, but she's always in good spirits. Her adventurous personality and love for new things beats memory loss, and life is fun every day.
The senior girl loves to be cuddled.
When she finds a snuggly blanket, she nuzzles in for an instant nap.
"She's lost a few more teeth but she's the light of our lives. She's part of the inspiration for why we do what we do here at Kitty Adventure Rescue League and Sanctuary," Karyn said.
Britches inspired her humans to start a cat sanctuary for kitties just like her - special needs, disabled, elderly. "She's the reason we started our sanctuary, and my single greatest friend in the world."
The sweet old gal brings lots of quirks and joy to her humans. Don't let her age fool you. She's a kitten at heart.
"Britches is super excited that it's finally getting chilly 'round here. She loves flannel sheets!"
She does tricks for treats!
20 is the new 10!
Because Britches has some health issues, she has bonded with another kitty named Olive who has become her guardian angel.
"It's an amazing friendship. Olive is Britches' full time nurse. She follows Britches around, makes sure she's warm, makes sure she can't fall off things, watches over her, and just loves her with everything she has. These two are absolutely the best."
Britches is 20 and going strong. She was given a second chance at life six years ago... look at her now!
"We are so so very thankful for the joy she brings to our lives."
