Smurf the brave rescue kitty was found covered in purple dye and had endured quite an ordeal likely as a chew toy. The little feline fought hard to live, and he thrived with love. Now this miracle kitty is a completely changed cat!
He was just 1 lb 10 oz when he came to the Nine Lives Foundation.
His coat was dyed with purple ink. The staff at the Nine Lives Foundation did everything they could to remove the dye, but some tough stains stuck to his fur. They weren't sure if the little kitten could pull through this battle, but they continued to fight for his survival.
All the hard work began to pay off. A few weeks later, Smurf was healing and the purple was fading.
He moved to a foster home where he was constantly surrounded by love and care, but he didn't move in alone.
Right before he settled in with his foster, he met a very special rescue blind cat, named Wanda.
"The cages were completely full, and Wanda didn't have a place to sleep. That's when staff members got an idea," Nine Lives wrote. "Both Wanda and Smurf, being such young kittens and having gone through such traumatic events, needed a little comfort."
They placed the kittens together for the night. What came next pleasantly surprised everyone. "Smurf and Wanda immediately snuggled in together inside their cage."
"As the days went on, Smurf's purple coat began to grow out into a beautiful gray - leaving behind the tragic events of the past and basking in his cozy new environment."
Look at that fluffy tail!
As Smurf grew bigger, his fluff multiplied.
What a handsome fluffy boy!
The purr motor is running! Smurf demanding love and attention from his human mom.
Smurf and Wanda are now living happily in their forever loving home and will always be together, forever in each other's company.
"Even though they had been through so much, their personalities continued to blossom, as did their trust for humans."
The purple kitten has transformed into a beautiful cat and grown back his gorgeous fluffy gray coat. Smurf and Wanda have so much to give and are so grateful for a place to call home.
