A man captured the incredible moment of a cat being rescued from a reservoir by the rangers after the kitty plunged into the water to chase a bird.
The cat kept swimming in the reservoir until she was saved by the rangers.
Geoff Eagle was at Thrybergh Country Park in Rotherham, South Yorkshire (UK), with a friend last week. When they were sitting outside a cafe watching birds, suddenly they spotted a large flock of around 100 birds take to the air and the water.
"Pigeons, geese, ducks all flew into the air because the cat was running down the slipway trying to catch them, It carried straight on into the water without hesitation," Eagle told Love Meow.
Eagle was stunned by what he saw...
He had never seen anything like this for more than 20 years of visiting the park.
The cat kept swimming next to ducks, geese and swans.
But the birds didn't fly away.
The birds began to swim around the cat and started following the feline.
The cat was going in circles and seemed to be lost and just kept swimming around.
"(The cat) was surrounded by ducks, coots, moorhens, swans and geese and it took me a couple of minutes to realise it was not going to get out so I rang the rangers straightaway," Eagle told Love Meow.
As a photographer who runs his own business, he always carriers a digital camera with him in case he sees something. Eagle captured the entire rescue as the rangers rowed out onto the reservoir and safely pulled the cat out of the water and into their boat.
"It took the rangers about 20/25 minutes to launch the boat and row across the reservoir to rescue the cat," Eagle told Love Meow.
"The cat was then taken to the vet's and it had a chip so its owner was traced to Doncaster. It appears the cat may have been stolen.
"The owner is delighted to have the cat back," Eagle told Love Meow.
