A beautiful calico cat was so grateful to be saved after she lost the only home she knew. Not only did her rescuers save her life, but also her four fur babies.
Meet Mirabella the calico.
Staff from Here Kitty Kitty Rescue in Elkhart, Indiana received an urgent call from a shelter about a rescued cat who needed their help. "We got a call from our local humane shelter that Mirabella had been turned in to them," Jennifer Gillispie of Here Kitty Kitty Rescue told Love Meow.
The beautiful calico came to the shelter after her owner suddenly passed away. Soon they discovered that she was due to give birth at any moment.
"We rushed right over to get her," Missy McNeal of Here Kitty Kitty Rescue told Love Meow. After she arrived in her foster home, she couldn't stop purring. "She was so happy to be safe and loved. We have never met a sweeter cat."
"A few days later, she was blessed with 4 healthy, adorable, chubby babies!"
There are two gingers, a tabby and a tortie.
"The tortie is Mistletoe, the tabby is Merry, the darker orange one with the black dot is Manger, and the lighter orange one is Grant," Gillispie said.
Mirabella is the sweetest mama.
She hasn't left her babies, and is there every step of the way.
Mirabella makes sure her kittens get fed and cleaned around the clock.
The only time she steps away is to replenish and use the litter box, but mama jumps right back to tend to her babies whenever she hears them cry.
"They are the cutest, fattest babies ever. Mirabella is a great mom and takes wonderful care of them," McNeal told Love Meow.
All tuckered out after a full meal.
They are 2 1/2 weeks old now, eyes opened, curious than ever!
At this age, the kitties have discovered their new found energy.
They have started to venture around their nursery pen and learn to walk by waddling around.
The kittens are getting bigger and stronger every day.
Nothing makes Mama Mirabella happier than seeing her babies thrive in a comfortable home. She tells her rescuers every day how happy she is to have a roof over her head and the safety, comfort and love for her babies.
