A ginger cat showed up on a family's porch early November and never left. The home owner opened the door for the friendly stray and she walked right in and made it her new home.
They knew that the kitty came with a pregnant belly but little did they know what they were about to get themselves into. Meet Boots!
"This little lady showed up a few weeks ago on my doorstep, hungry and pregnant. Of course I fed her, and with that she adopted me," Rachel shared with Love Meow.
"It didn't take long before she had found her way into the house."
As how it always goes with cats — resistance is futile — Rachel welcomed the kitty into her warm abode.
After a full meal, Boots purred up a storm and started "making biscuits" on her newly adopted human.
"She was eating more food than I thought possible — it was quite impressive…. She now ran this house and completely overtook all of my usual sensibilities."
After a trip to the vet, Boots was healthy and expected to have four or five kittens, but her humans were in for quite a surprise.
"This little loving ball of fluff laid on the scale at the vet, purring. I've never met a sweeter, gentler cat," Rachel said.
On November 26, the family woke up to a lot of tiny squeaks coming from the kitty room. Boots was done being pregnant!
"We woke up to SEVEN baby beans in a cute kitten pile! I was shocked," Rachel shared with Love Meow. "We got 6 orange tabbies that look like mama and one solid white."
"Boots is a good mommy to her little beans. The babies fight for nipples and the white one is super pushy and will knock the other babies off the one he wants.
"They make tiny little mew sounds that melt my heart!"
On day three, they decided to call the feline family "Boots and her seven Dwarfs".
The kittens are Doc (white), Dopey, Sleepy, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, and Sneezy.
At 2.5 weeks old, the kittens started getting feisty and very curious and adventurous.
"They'll be escaping their nest any day!"
When the kittens are big enough, they will be spayed/neutered and adopted to good homes.
"These littles are getting cuter and more plump every day! I'm so in love with all of them."
Mama chose the purrfect family to help her and her kitties.
"Boots adopted me and I just went with it. Seven babies is a tad overwhelming but It's an incredibly special experience."
Updates:
"Week three and the kittens began walking - though it was more like stumbling or falling with style."
Four boys and three girls
Curious little furball!
The kitties kept their mama very busy.
"It was a beautiful and special experience. It was unexpected, a lot of work, and I'm so grateful to have experienced it and saved these eight little lives.
"Miss Boots went to live with my mom and the kittens all got adopted out to loving homes. What an adventure!"
