This video is quite eye opening. It is fascinating yet a bit strange to see the extent cats would go to get catnip.
The reaction to the plant is very dramatic, but I don't normally see this with domestic cats. My guess is your cat has to have consumed a high dose of catnip in order to display some of the bizarre behavior depicted in the video.
Catnip and catmints are mainly known for the behavioral effects they have on cats, particularly domestics.When cats sense the bruised leaves or stems of catnip, they may roll over it, paw at it, chew it, lick it, leap about and purr, or heavily salivate. Some will growl, meow, scratch, or bite the hand holding it.
