A kitten who was found as an orphan, met another cat in foster care. It was love at first sight.
A newborn kitten was brought to a shelter in Montreal, Canada after she was found alone without a mom. Shelter staff brought her back from the brink and reached out to a fellow rescue group, Chatons Orphelins Montréal, to inquire about foster care.
"When she arrived with us, we continued to keep her warm. Her eyes were closed and she was just skin and bones," Celine Crom of Chatons Orphelins Montréal shared with Love Meow.
Foster volunteer Miléna took the kitten home and started round-the-clock feedings. The tiny bundle of fur latched onto the bottle like a champ and was so content to be hand reared.
"Her instincts for survival were strong from the start. Every hour, she would cry for her bottle and would eat to her heart's content. She steadily put on weight every day."
The kitten named Lou was thriving in her foster home, but she eagerly wanted a constant companion to play and cuddle with. Whenever she saw the resident cats, she would try to crawl all over them for TLC.
Later that month, a litter of four kittens found their way to the rescue. They were in poor shape with a host of health issues. "At first, we were afraid that they might not make it. It took a long time for the antibiotics to work, but they all started to eat on their own again."
One of the kittens, Griotte, had a severely infected eye. With painstaking care and lots of love, the little tabby pulled through, regained vision and began to blossom.
Knowing how much Lou could benefit from having a feline friend her age, she was introduced to other kittens and instantly connected with Griotte.
"24 hours after they met, they were following each other everywhere. Since then, they have been a bonded pair, napping, grooming, running around and doing everything together," Celine shared with Love Meow.
Sweet Lou was so thrilled to have a new sister. She insisted on staying close to Griotte and wouldn't leave her side. The feeling was mutual for the tabby. Within a day, they became inseparable friends.

"Lou and Griotte are so sweet together. They are of different personalities but make a perfect match."
The little cow kitty is the embodiment of joy and fun. She is the curious one, who enjoys her regular expeditions around the house, and is constantly on the lookout for new discoveries.
"She will leap into her foster mom's arms when she wants to be held," Celine said. After getting some cuddles from her human, she gets right back to her feline best friend.
Griotte has taken the role as Lou's big sister. She keeps Lou well groomed with her daily mandatory baths. The sweet tabby watches over her little sister, and comes running if she hears her meow.
"Griotte has a tiny cloudy spot on her eye due to the infection, but she can see well now and it doesn't bother her."
The kittens share an adorable bond and will seek each other out if they aren't within eyeshot.
"They are a wonderful pair and can't be separated," Celine added. "They are now looking for a forever home together."
These two kittens found each other in foster care and became sisters for life.
