This sweet kitten is so happy to be saved that she keeps kneading away in bliss.
A week ago, a tiny kitten was found outside a resident's home in North Carolina, without a mother in sight. The Good Samaritan who spotted the kitten, waited several hours for the cat mom to return but it was to no avail.
He brought the calico inside and noticed she was sick and had an eye covered in crust. The kind person did everything he could to keep her alive throughout the night and reached out to his local rescue, Sparkle Cat Rescue (in Burlington), for help.
"We found out about her first thing in the morning and rushed to pick her up," Sarah Kelly of Sparkle Cat Rescue told Love Meow. "She had neonatal ophthalmia, a severe eye infection, in her right eye."
While the kitten was on her way to her foster home, she kneaded away on a soft blanket throughout the entire journey. She chirped and meowed intermittently as if to exclaim her joy of having a warm blanket.
"We named her Julia after Julia Child, the famous chef and baker, because of how much she 'made biscuits' the whole ride home from picking her up," Sarah shared with Love Meow.
Sarah started the kitten on the right medications and carefully cleaned her eyes and face. After just 48 hours of care, good food and a warm bed, Julia perked up and started to improve. The little bundle of fur continued waving her front mittens around, beaming with joy and contentment.
Besides being very knead-y, the calico is vocal and not shy of voicing her many opinions.
"It was evident that she is a baking queen and expert chef. She continues to do well, and make biscuits and meow — her two favorite things."
As a little neonate, Julia can't yet regulate her body temperature so she gets to sleep and nap in a cozy incubator between feedings. Sarah has brought a teddy bear to keep her company so she will not feel alone.
Whenever Sarah walks in with a bottle, the clever little kitty knows right away and waddles towards her foster mom. She cries and paws on the glass door until food is served.
One can never be fast enough to feed a very demanding baby.
"Julia is cheerful, sassy and so incredibly sweet — much like her namesake. She loves her milk (kitten formula) almost as much as she loves making biscuits," Sarah shared with Love Meow.

After getting a full belly, sweet Julia will nuzzle into her trusty cuddle buddy and fall right to sleep.
Thanks to the kind person who found the kitten in the nick of time, the sweet calico is thriving in foster care and will never have to endure another day without food or shelter.
As soon as Julia steps onto a soft blanket, she starts kneading and "baking".
"We are so thankful to give her this second chance, but we wish more people realized how Julia is such a small percentage of those cats/kittens that are lucky enough to be rescued," Sarah added. "We cannot stress enough the importance of spaying and neutering."
In just a few days, the sweet kitten has gained a lot of healthy weight and plenty of strength.
When she is big enough, she will graduate into a playpen and start exercising those little legs and honing her feline skills.
The knead-y kitty continues to make strides every day and win over hearts with her sweet nature and larger-than-life personality.

Little Julia still has a lot of growing to do. She is loving her new life as an indoor kitty and all the soft things she can put her paws on.
