A kitten came back to the woman who had been kind to her, and decided to move into her house.
A stray kitten was found wandering in a neighborhood of Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Asja, a pharmacy student, who has a cat of her own (named Sophie), came across the tabby one day.
"The kitten was always walking around the street while meowing very loudly. Whenever someone tried to get close to her, she would run away immediately because she didn't trust anyone," Asja told Love Meow.
The kitten was terrified of people, noises and sudden movements, and was constantly on alert. When the weather started to get cold last winter, Asja took matters into her own hands as she couldn't leave the kitten out without a warm shelter.
"I felt sad about the kitten (named Gigi) and made a decision to try my best to save her. I started leaving food on my balcony, which she could reach by stairs."
Asja set up a makeshift shelter for the kitten who was very shy but couldn't resist the offer. "She was very hungry. No matter how much I fed her, she always wanted more," Asja added.
For the first few days, the kitten would only eat from a distance, but things began to turn around as she warmed up to her human friend.
"I started slowly moving closer to her. She would hiss and growl at me, but I knew she was doing that as a defense mechanism, and wouldn't actually hurt me. That didn't discourage me at all."
There was a lot of hesitance for a couple of weeks, but once Gigi realized getting loved on felt good, her demeanor changed.
"I tried to pet her while feeding her so she would associate petting as something positive. She was so confused at first and didn't know how to react to touch," Asja added.
One day, with her new-found confidence and trust in Asja, the kitten decided it was time to move in.
The tabby girl made a complete 180 and became quite the snuggle-bug. She would tippy-toe on her hind paws and raise her head up eagerly for pets and head scratches.
"This is now the only way she likes to be petted — by head-bumping me and standing on her back legs."
"I've never seen a cat that happy! She was constantly purring while making biscuits with her paws. She was super cuddly and wanted to be with me the whole time," Asja shared with Love Meow.

Sweet Gigi curled up in her human's lap and purred up a storm.
Gigi has been fully vetted and spayed. She is very petite for her age at eight months old, but has a big personality. The clever feline enjoys bringing "gifts" to her people every day.
"I guess that's her way of thanking me for everything. Gigi is a very grateful and loving cat."
The sweet tabby adores her human and showers her with kisses and snuggles.
"She looks into my eyes and pushes her little face in mine to give a kiss. She is a bit clumsy, but very sweet, playful and cuddly," Asja shared.
"Gigi makes me feel happy and loved, and I'm so glad she let me be a part of her life," Asja shared with Love Meow.
