A kitten wandered to a family garden and befriended their cat. She came back and decided to leave street life behind.
A resident from a neighborhood of Montreal, Canada spotted a stray kitten in their garden a few weeks ago. She was all by herself without a mother in sight.
When their family cat came out to check on the kitten, the little stray walked right up and greeted the cat with a few sniffs. The kitten was curious about the feline friend but wasn't so sure about people. She immediately turned around and ran off when they approached her.
The tabby was all alone, and no one came to claim her. She eventually returned to meet her old pal, the cat, while she tried to scrounge a meal to fill her belly.
After several attempts to catch the kitten, a neighbor managed to get her to safety. She needed a place to stay and proper care to help her thrive. Nadia, a local rescuer, was then contacted, and she sprang into action.
She rushed to the neighborhood to pick up the kitten and transported her to her local rescue, Chatons Orphelins Montréal, to ensure the best chance at life for the young tabby.
"The kitten was estimated to be two months old. We named her Alixe and she was very shy when we first got her," Chatons Orphelins Montréal shared with Love Meow.
Sarah and Morgane, foster volunteers of the rescue, took her into their loving home to be socialized. The kitten was so scared at first that her heart was racing, as she curled up in the corner of her carrier.
Things began to change when she realized that she no longer needed to hide.
Alixe came out of her shell after she got a taste of comfort and love. She discovered that being wrapped up in a soft blanket soothed her and made her feel safe, and that people weren't so bad after all.
"She quickly grew to enjoy the company of her humans and other kittens. She follows other cats in the house, watches them play and tries to imitate them."
Alixe has turned into an attention seeker who can't get enough of pets and cuddles. She will walk up to her foster mom and ask for head scritches, or sit next to her people to keep them company.
The little tabby fills the room with her adorable purrs and exudes so much joy when she is around her foster friends.
"Being indoors has brought out the confidence in her since she no longer has to fend for herself. She feels safe and loved."
At three months old, Alixe has transformed into a happy, affectionate kitty, and is now ready to find a place of her own.
"She was lucky to have been pulled off the street. She is so sweet and gentle, and she is ready to find a family who will love her forever," the rescue shared with Love Meow.
