A pair of bonded kittens have never left each other's side since they were found on the streets together.
At the end of last year, a shelter in Montreal reached out to a fellow cat rescue, Chatons Orphelins Montréal, about two bonded kittens needing help.
Earlier that month, rescuers were at a location to retrieve an injured stray who had been hit by a car. Not only did they find the cat, but also they found her two little kittens.
The feline siblings were huddled together and wouldn't leave each other's side. They both have adorable goatee-like markings on their chin, as if they have a permanent smile on their face.
Rescuers couldn't leave the kittens to fend for themselves. They scooped them up and brought them along to safety.
While the cat mom was rushed to the vet to have life-saving surgery, the kittens were transferred to Chatons Orphelins Montréal, so they could start socialization in the comfort of a loving foster home.
"They were treated for worms, but otherwise, healthy and in good shape," the rescue shared with Love Meow.
The stray cat had done a great job raising her kittens and kept them fed and strong before they were found. By the time they arrived in foster care, they were ready to adjust to life as indoor cats.
"At first, they were a bit timid and stuck to each other like glue in order to feel safe, but soon they warmed up to their humans and began to explore the house from room to room."
The kittens, Babett and Tapeo, follow each other everywhere around the house. They echo and mirror one another -- if one of them starts playing, the other quickly follows suit.
"They are drawn to feather toys and very playful and curious. They are always exploring (together) and looking for things to play with. As soon as we pick up a feather wand, they both come running," the rescue shared with Love Meow.
When they aren't scampering around the house, they are cuddling with each other, grooming and smiling in bliss.
The kittens have grown in size, confidence and affection over the last few weeks. They stay close to their people, so whenever they demand attention or extra cuddles, their humans are always within reach.
"As soon as you look at them, they start purring. They will walk up to you for hugs while they switch on their purr motors."
Tapeo the brother is a little dynamo who doesn't want to miss out on any action. He insists on joining his sister every time she gets cuddles, and won't take no for an answer. Babett is sweet-natured and calm. Together, they make the perfect duo.
"If Babett jumps on the sofa to snuggle with her humans, her brother will follow right behind her. They are joined at the hip and cannot be separated."
The cat mom has fully recovered, and is enjoying her new life as the center of attention. She will never have to go through another pregnancy and will have a safe and warm home.
After two months in foster care, the feline siblings found the family of their dreams. They went to their forever home together and would never be apart.
"They are sleeping happily at their new home tonight. It's really a dream come true!"
Babett and Tapeo continue their daily activities as a bonded pair. They wrestle, chase each other when they play, and wrap their arms around one another before they drift off to sleep.
The sweet kittens with the perfect goatees are living the best life and getting endless cuddles from their forever family.
