A resident from a flooded area in Texas found a cat that had been displaced by Hurricane Harvey.
Her owners evacuated during the tropical storm which has caused unprecedented destruction in southeastern Texas, and they left their the 17-year-old cat behind.
The neighbor took the tuxedo girl along and got her help.
The neighbor grabbed the cat and reached out to Kitty Adventure Rescue League and Sanctuary (a haven for special needs, disabled, elderly and otherwise unadoptable felines in the DFW TX area) for a helping hand.
"The owner is unable to continue to care for the cat and doesn't want her back," Karyn Poplin, co-founder of the rescue, told Love Meow.
Karyn and her husband, who run a feline retirement home, knew that she would be a perfect addition to their sanctuary and went on a trip to pick her up.
On Friday September 1, Karyn met the sweet senior cat and took her on a ride to her new home.
The kitty was a bit confused by all the changes that she had experienced within a short period of time but after an afternoon of exploring around her new abode and warming up to her human parents, she began to feel at home.
She is hard of hearing but loves to talk.
"She's doing pretty well. Not a fan of her feline roommates yet, but she's warming up to us. She talks to us and sure loves chin scratches," Karyn told Love Meow.
After the ordeal of losing her home and being stranded in flood waters, the kitty can finally relax and enjoy the comfort of a loving home.
Now she has a roof over her head, a comfy bed and loving humans to look after her as she lives out her golden years at the sanctuary.
The tuxedo girl still needs a name :).
