A penny drive helped collect $3000 to bring two 3 month old Canadian lynxes to a wildlife center near Poynette in hope to educate people about what humans/capitalism has affected wildlife and many natural habitats of animals such as lynxes.
The lynxes now reside at the MacKenzie Environment Education Center that is owned by the "state Department of Natural Resources and managed by the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation."
Through the penny drive, they received 132,000 pennies which accounted for $1300. It was not enough to transport the lynxes to the wildlife center, but many donors quickly came in to help to raise the fund.
