14-year-old shelter cat found the perfect companion to spend his golden years with. He brought not only smiles but something really special to his forever human.
A 14-year-old gray cat was brought to Anne Arundel County Animal Care and Control (in Maryland) early this May. The older cat was very friendly and gentle to every staff member and volunteer he came across. All he wanted was a friend to spend time with.
The shelter was able to arrange a foster home for the sweet senior (named LL Cool J), so he could stay in a quiet and comfortable environment while he waited for the right family to come along.
"He loves to be petted and meows as soon as he knows you're nearby," his Animal Care and Control foster shared. "He craves attention, head butting, and still has a lot of love to give."
Despite being a bit older, the cat is still young at heart. He savors his scratching pads and enjoys soaking up the sun by the windows. He adores people and will hop on the couch to be next to them, keeping them company.
After several months of waiting, the sweet senior was really longing for a special someone to come take him home and love him forever. Around that time, a shelter volunteer got to know this lovable cat and was instantly smitten. She knew just the perfect human for him.
The volunteer's 89-year-old mother who stays at an assisted living facility (Brightview Severna Park), was in need of a sweet, gentle companion.
"The pandemic has been so hard on the residents of assisted living facilities and their loved ones, who cannot visit, share a hug or even a touch," the shelter wrote. "LL Cool J (now renamed Raven) is allowed to live with this lady thanks to their pet policies, which permits residents to have one well-behaved, vaccinated pet weighing no more than 25 pounds. Talk about a win-win for both senior humans and senior pets."
It was love at first sight when Raven met his forever human. He snuggled up to his new mom and instantly put a big smile on her face. They really connected as if they felt completed by each other.
The two sweet seniors spent the rest of the day snuggling away, and Raven was the happiest he'd ever been.
Raven has brought so much joy and that much-needed comfort to his favorite person. He enjoys spending time with her, snuggling in her arms while watching the day go by.
They needed each other and now they have one another to share their retirement with.
