18 months ago, Jessica @fosterkittensofpasadena woke up one morning to an email about a tiny kitten needing a foster home. She knew she had to help.
Meet Cider!
Little Cider came to Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA for a second chance at life. She was less than four weeks old - made of mostly fluff.
"She was very independent from the beginning and was always keeping busy - exploring, playing, being brave. She wasn't afraid of my resident dogs and always stood up for herself," Jessica toldLove Meow.
"Cider was a solo kitten from the shelter but didn't seem to mind it."
The cream kitten was so tiny that Jessica had to syringe feed her. As soon as the kitten latched on, she ate like a champ.
Cider was the tiniest little furball but packed full of energy.
Cider loved to be doted on by her foster mom. She preferred her human's bed over her own kitty beds.
The kitten was thriving with all the love and constant attention.
With round-the-clock care, the tiny ball of fluff began to put on weight. When she was big enough, she started to learn to eat solid food from a dish.
Little purrito!
Every milestone she made, it brought a lot of joy to her foster family.
Cider reached one pound!
Who could possibly say no to that face?!
A couple weeks later, they brought home another kitten that needed a lot of TLC.
Cider was excited to have a friend to play with.
Soon after Apple the new foster arrived, Cider was eager to show her everything around the house.
"Ever since I introduced Apple to cider, Cider doesn't talk much to me anymore. I guess because they are talking to each other now through their cat body language," Jessica shared on Instagram.

As a wee kitten, Cider had already figured out that computer keyboard is made for sitting.
A few weeks later... :)
At eight weeks old, Cider reached two pounds. Jessica knew that the kitten was almost ready for adoption.
The rescue group found both kittens their loving homes.
It was bittersweet, but so rewarding to know that these kittens would be loved and that more kittens like them would get a chance at a better life at their foster home.

Soon after Cider moved into her new abode, she clung to her human mom and fell asleep in her lap.
The fluffy kitty is all grown up now at one year old!
What a beauty she's become!
Little floofball!
