A kind-hearted man saved a tiny calico kitten out of the trash when he spotted her in the back of his truck.
Mark G. the trash worker from Upper Darby Township Sanitation Department was emptying the can into his truck when he found the little calico.
"He noticed something was moving inside one of the bags. He opened the bag and found the kitten," Justina Calgiano of Providence Animal Center told Love Meow.
They quickly contacted the local animal control for help. When Providence Animal Center (Media, Pennsylvania) learned about the kitten, they took her in and brought her to get vetted.
They named the kitten "Grundgetta" after Oscar the Grouch's girlfriend.
"She was sweet and innocent and didn't deserve to be treated that way. I'm glad she's healthy and safe," Mark told Love Meow.
The kitten is doing very well. She's full of love and can't get enough of attention from her caregivers.
Grundgetta is about 3-4 weeks old, and still needs to be bottle fed.
"We're looking to transfer her into a foster home with experience edealing with 'bottle babies' and then in 4-5 weeks when she's old enough, big enough and healthy enough, we'll place her up for adoption," Calgiano told Love Meow.
Mark plans to visit the kitten when she is ready to be put up for adoption. He is so happy to know that the kitten is in good hands and loved.
"I was just doing what was right and making sure the cat got safe and the help (she) needs," he said.
