A black and white cat was found crying under a car at a mobile home park in Greenacres, Florida. Carmen Morales Weinberg, founder of Animal Friends Project, spotted the tomcat and couldn't leave him there.
She asked the neighbors to see if he belonged to someone but no one came to claim him. She named him Ying Yang.
It was around mid February when Carmen found the kitty under the car, crying for help. He didn't run and just kept meowing as she approached him. (Scroll down for video)
"I was driving on the street when I first saw him. I could tell that he was not well. Neighbors told me that he was fed by an old lady at another house. They were grateful that I was willing to take him to see what was wrong with him," Carmen told Love Meow.
The sweet kitty followed Carmen to the side of the car. When she finally got him safely in a humane trap, she discovered that he was covered in fleas and missing some hair. After getting some much-needed food, water and pets, the cat perked up and started purring.
The next day, Carmen took Ying Yang to a local clinic.
"They did blood work and saw that he was severely anemic. They recommended a blood transfusion and he had a couple on Sunday," Carmen told Love Meow.
"He is a very good patient and has been taking his medicine without a problem. I am hoping the antibiotics are helping his body heal. He is taking one for the bacteria in his blood and another one for the skin infection. He has cellulitis on his upper body."
Every day he looked a little better and got a bit stronger.
Getting replenished with plenty of good food and fresh water.
"He's so adorable. Everyone loves him," Carmen told Love Meow.
Nothing makes him happier than some head scratches. Little Ying Yang is so happy to have someone to care for him.
"He is a very good eater so it is easy to give him his pills. I do see an improvement because last time we were at the vet, he was crying non stop... This time, he was calm and curious, looking around and crying just a little bit."
Ying Yang is not out of the woods yet and is currently being cared for by a vet tech. He's a brave little fighter!
Carmen and a team of veterinary staff are determined to get the sweet boy back on his paws so he will get a chance to live out his life at a forever loving home.
