A frightened cat who went through quite an ordeal before he was captured by rescuers, has gone from a terrified, hissy cat to now the epitome of a lap cat. All it takes is love.

"On January 18, we received a call from a person reporting an abandoned cat near 23rd and Renfrew. The caller had witnessed a woman in a BMW toss a cat out onto the side of the road. Our Maria immediately headed out in an attempt to rescue the poor cat - traps were set, food was left behind and the area was monitored by a team of volunteers,"
VOKRA - Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association said.
"Volunteers went back to the site everyday looking," VOKRA told Love Meow. A week later, they spotted a cat up a tree in Renfrew Ravine Park.
Volunteers mobilized to help with the rescue.

This ginger cat is estimated to be 4-5 years old. "He's clearly been outside for awhile as he's very dehydrated, dirty and full of fleas."

Many volunteers came out to ensure the cat has the best chance of a happy, healthy life.
With help from Stan of Royal Wood Tree Care who climbed up 30 feet, the cat was rescued!

When the kitty first arrived at the rescue center, he was very sick, dehydrated and traumatized, but he started to learn to relax. They found him a foster home where he would get the help he needed to adjust and learn to trust humans again.

"We'll never know for sure if this is indeed the cat which was dumped (we strongly suspect he's the same cat), but regardless this handsome guy is now safe and sound.
"He's been named Stanoakley and is getting lots of TLC..." VOKRA said.

He was still traumatized when he came to his foster home, but his foster Jennie worked with him to gain his trust. "He loves baked chicken treats so there will probably be lots of those in his future!"
He still hisses and growls, but the little ginger boy is starting to come around.

"Stan enjoys sitting and sleeping on the window ledge and Jennie is spending all her free time sitting and reading in the den with him. She's also been signing to him but he remains unsure about this," VOKRA said.
10 days after he arrived in his foster home, Stan meowed the most "happy meows" that night!

Stanoakley is starting to trust that there are 2-legged friends who will never ever hurt him.
"He recently made himself comfortable enough to take baths on the sofa and even came to sit next to his foster asking for pets. His purrs are loud and healthy!"

"When the time is right, someone out there will be very lucky and privileged to provide this sweet boy with a forever home!"

He's become the epitome of a lap cat!
"Since Stan's been in foster care he's gone from a terrified, traumatized, hissy guy to this!
"Although he still scares easily, he's become the epitome of a lap cat. Special thanks to foster Jennie for all your love and care. It's clearly working!"
