A cat came to the right patio for snacks and kept coming back until he was no longer a stray.

Chloe, who helps community cats in her neighborhood, noticed that a new cat had appeared overnight on her patio.

The long-haired gray cat was alone, disheveled, and starving. He devoured all the food Chloe had left out that night. "He returned later when he realized he would not go hungry in this place. He waited for food every evening as night fell," Chatons Orphelins Montreal shared.

The cat was wary of people, sitting on the patio cautiously as he ate his fill.

Chloe set up a camera to get a closer look at the stray. She noticed knotted fur all over his coat, causing him much discomfort. The cat appeared to be young, had nowhere to call home, and likely had spent most of his life on the street.

Knowing the cat needed help, Chloe intervened and set up a humane trap on her patio.

Before long, the cat walked into the trap as if ready for change. "He didn't struggle and was resigned because he had no one. He was then secured in a kennel while his rescuer sought help for him. He seemed so happy to be inside and slept a lot."

Chatons Orphelins Montreal responded to the rescue request and took the cat named Ulysse under their wing.

Ulysse was scared but gentle with every person who tended to him. He kept his head down, avoiding eye contact, but let them pet him even though he was terrified. "He was worried but never showed any sign of aggression."

Street life had been tough on the cat, who bore battle scars and was covered in matted fur.

After a trip to the vet to get him vetted and fixed and all the mats and knots removed, Ulysse felt like a new cat. Shortly after returning to his foster home, he came out of his shell and began begging for affection.

"He became a big clingy boy. All he wanted was attention and cuddles."

The fear in his eyes melted, replaced by a love for petting. He sprang up from his bed at the sight of his foster mom and leaned into her hand for head scratches. His rumbling purrs permeated the room as he nudged his human with his nose.

Ulysse is no longer shy about asking for attention, doing the tippy tap dance while basking in the love.

"He turns on his purr engine the moment we enter the room. He is so sweet and only asks for a little space on the couch to cuddle and be close to us."

Slowly but surely, his fur is growing back, and he is blossoming into a stunning gray lion. He follows his people into the kitchen and the bathroom, always ready to offer a snuggle.

"He is a love bug and never hesitates to ask for attention. If he doesn't have enough, he will rub his face against us or stare at us with pleading eyes. He purrs like a tractor as soon as we look at him. He is clingy like a teddy bear."

Now that Ulysse has acclimated to indoor life, he has become more playful and curious about toys.

His chatty side has emerged with the advent of a cozy, worry-free life. "He likes to talk to us with his tiny meows. It's very endearing. Our hearts melt when he comes running to us, purring."
