They took in a cat from the streets and watched her ask for affection in ways they never expected.

Before Candy the tortoiseshell was rescued, she lived among a colony of community cats on a business property.

She was brought to a local vet clinic, where they discovered she had an injured tail. While being cared for by an animal rescuer, they noticed how incredibly friendly she was.

"They realized she was very sweet and deserved a chance to find a forever home," Gab Cirucci, cofounder of Foster the Furbabies (a volunteer-based animal rescue), shared with Love Meow.

Once her tail healed, her rescuer reached out to Foster the Furbabies for help.

"When I first got her, she was very chatty and chirpy on the car ride home. She kept rubbing up against my fingers through the cat carrier. When we got home, she was happy to have food to munch on and a bigger space to settle in and relax."

After a quick tour of her room and a hearty meal, Candy strolled over to her foster mom, climbing onto her lap for pets and affection. "She definitely realized she was safe right away. She immediately made biscuits on her blanket and wanted to sit on my lap to cuddle."

Candy enjoyed her new space, but it was even better when Gab was there to share it with her.

After wandering the streets for likely most of her life, Candy was grateful to have a kind human to care for her. "She is super affectionate, wanting to snuggle and be pet, and she wants to be near me all the time."

She flopped onto Gab's lap, extending her paw to hold her hand, feeling right at home.

"Her personality is the epitome of a tortie. She can be very sweet but also very sassy. She's playful when she wants to be, but for the most part, she's content just relaxing and exploring her new foster home."

With all the blankets she could ever want, Candy "makes biscuits" constantly, purring in pure bliss.

Candy may not be fond of other cats, but she smothers her human with purrs, snuggles, and gentle massages on her own terms.

"She gets so excited to see me, she loves snuggling on my lap, she likes to play but isn't overly active, and she is very chatty and chirpy."

The moment Gab sits down, Candy nestles onto her lap, ready to be adored. Though sweet as candy, she has quite the "tortitude" and isn't shy about letting people know how she feels.

"Candy is the type of cat who gets a bit overstimulated. But on the flip side, she is such an affectionate girl. She's a total lap cat and loves attention."

"She needs an adopter who learns her cues about when enough is enough (a certain look in her eyes, a huff and puff). Having a house to herself and time to settle in will make all the difference."

Recently, Candy decided it was time to explore the rest of the house and even tolerated the other cats so long as they respected her space.

She claimed the big bed as her own and discovered a perfect spot by the window. "In addition to loving to cuddle, she also loves to sit in the window and look outside."

After her time on the streets, Candy is thrilled to be indoors, enjoying all the pampering and affection.

She prefers being the center of attention, the queen of the castle, reigning over warm laps and taking over her humans' beds.
