A Good Samaritan from Canada heard the cries of a kitten coming from outside one night. Upon investigation, she found a tiny feline baby all alone in a bush. The little calico was about one day old without a mother in sight.

Knowing that neonates would have the best chance to thrive with a nursing mom, she decided to leave her there and wait for the mother to return. Many hours later, there was no sign of the mother cat.

When dawn broke, the hungry kitten was still by herself crying. The kind lady scooped her up, brought her inside and reached out to her community for help.

A local rescuer Frédérique stepped in and safely transported the kitten to Chatons Orphelins Montréal after a 1.5-hour drive. "The kitten was so hungry that she went straight for the bottle upon arrival," the rescue shared with Love Meow.

"We named the kitten Carla. She was left behind soon after she was born. Our bottle-feeding foster took her home and started feeding her every two hours around the clock."

The little singleton was just the size of a q-tip. She perked up overnight as she suckled down the food to her heart's content. "Despite having no vision at this age, she was able to use her sense of smell to find her bottle. She recognized her caretaker by her touch and scent."

Little Carla started to put on weight and gain strength. She would gravitate towards her foster mom every time she was near. In the second week of her life, her eyes started to crack open and she got to see the world for the first time.

As soon as her legs were strong enough, she began to venture out of her comfy nest to explore her surroundings. After every feeding, she would blissfully roll on her back and enjoy some belly rubs.

Her foster family celebrates each milestone with her. When she took her first steps and learned to waddle, it made them so proud.

Carla is starting to develop her hearing as her ears unfold. She's grown to be a happy, chonky kitten and has a cute, round belly to show off.

"She loves her bottle and is plump and healthy. Carla is lively and active. She is an early starter and has managed to climb on the couch without problem," the rescue shared.

"We often find her between two cushions taking a nap in the warmth."

Carla is quite the talker and can carry a long conversation with her foster family. She meows for her humans when she demands their attention or simply requests for a snack.

"This little kitten is one of the lucky ones. She was found as a newborn without a mother and rescued just in time."

A few weeks since then, Carla has blossomed into a beautiful young cat with an adorable personality.
