A 7-week-old kitten with extra toes was brought to the Odd Cat Sanctuary in Massachusetts for a chance at a better life. She was found in a dirt hole by a local TNR (trap-neuter-return) rescuer in Douglas, MA.
The rescuer managed to get the torbie (a cross between a tabby and a tortie) out of the hole and into a carrier. Hoping to get the kitten the best chance at a loving home, she got in touch with the Odd Cat Sanctuary.
"The kitten was very spicy and sassy. She would throw down her double paws like she was a fierce lion," Tara Kay, founder of the Odd Cat Sanctuary, shared with Love Meow.

Despite all the hissing and trying to put on a tough exterior, it was all bark and no bite. "About 12 hours later of me working with her, she started to come around," Tara told Love Meow.
"She would purr when I held her and start to snuggle into my neck."

The kitten whom they named Cookie Dough, got a taste of love and immediately wanted more. Despite being born a feral, she quickly came out of her shell and warmed up to her human friends.
In just one day, she adjusted to life as an indoor cat, and her playful, rambunctious side began to emerge.

Sam, a veterinary student and an ER vet tech, came across a post about the little spitfire and fell head over heels for her. She went to meet the torbie the next day, and it turned out to be the perfect match.
It was love at first sight as Cookie Dough climbed onto Sam's shoulder and nuzzled into her neck.

"She was instantly so sweet with Sam," Tara told Love Meow. "We agreed she was not meant for life on the streets, and Sam said, 'She's a lover, not a fighter,'" Tara told Love Meow.
The kitten melted into her new best friend and was so happy to be held and carried around in her arms.
