A tiny kitten escaped near death when she was found on a conveyor belt by a worker who was sifting through the trash at a Northern California recycling center.
Just before falling into a running compactor, Tony Miranda saw the kitten and immediately scooped her up. He was puzzled by how the kitten got in with the trash. The palm sized tabby had survived a ride in a dump truck, traveled onto the conveyer belt and just got pulled out seconds away from death.
"It's amazing to see a little kitten survive through all these. It made my day today," Miranda said.
Heather Garcia, the site supervisor, saw the kitten and decided to keep her. She named the kitten Murphy after the center she was found.
The little kitten was taken to the vet and got a clean bill of health. Now she's doing very well in her new home.
