A man took in two kittens from a lot and noticed how one always leaned on the other as they changed before him.

Rescuers at Alley Cat Project responded to a call to save cats and kittens living amid vehicles and sharp objects on a lot.

Among those rescued, two ginger kittens clung to each other for comfort. Josh Norem, a volunteer, stepped up to foster the pair. He set up a quiet space with cozy nooks and plenty of treats to help them feel at home.

On their first night indoors, the kittens were frightened, retreating to a corner. One was especially timid, cowering behind his brother as if for dear life.

Twinkle Toes, the kitten with white boots, was the shyer of the two. He leaned on his brother, Purr Monster, for support as they tried to understand their new world.

By day two, Purr Monster began to come out of his shell, drawn by the promise of food and reassured by Josh's gentle affection. He inched closer to his foster dad while Twinkle Toes used him as a shield.

All the hissing, spitting, and pinned-back ears were just a facade. Once Twinkle Toes got a taste of treats and experienced the comfort of a warm lap, his demeanor softened, and his purr engine started to rumble.

"He took about two days to stop hissing and let me pet him. It took about a week for him to really calm down," Josh shared with Love Meow.

True to his name, Purr Monster's motor roared to life once he felt safe, and he turned into the sweetest snuggle bug.

As he became a full-fledged lap cat, his brother followed suit. Twinkle Toes relaxed and curled up on Josh, embracing chin scratches alongside his brother.

Before long, they were purring loudly in unison, snuggled side by side on their foster dad's lap. "These two are the very definition of love bugs."

"Purr Monster is the friendliest and most loving kitten you will ever meet."

"He will purr just looking at you, will follow you around all day, and loves to climb in your lap and purr the day away."

As soon as Josh sits down with his laptop, Purr Monster hops onto his lap, ready to impart some feline wisdom. "He is just so unique, friendly, and loving."

"Twinkle Toes is a bit shyer than his brother, so he leans on him for support. He has really come out of his shell in foster care and will start purring within a second or two of being touched. It's a really cute high-pitched chirp at times.

"He is a good balance to his brother, as he is not quite as affectionate at first but will climb in your lap and start his loud purr motor once he feels comfortable with you."

The ginger boys are two peas in a pod, always turning to each other. They do everything as a duo and even clean each other in perfect synchrony.

"Together, they make a fantastic pair of very friendly, well-adjusted kittens."

Twinkle Toes has come a long way since his days of being hissy and scared. Now, he enjoys the company of his people and often lounges near the family dog, savoring the calm moments before the chaos of playtime.

They are bundles of energy, zooming around the house, jumping, climbing, and creating all sorts of antics.

With a second chance, this bonded pair is flourishing as pampered house cats. Twinkle Toes continues to lean on his brother as they embark on their next chapter together.
