Residents found a pair of kittens alone in their yard and never stopped looking for the rest of the cat family.

Just before a snowstorm hit, a family discovered two newborn kittens in their yard. They searched for their mother, but she was nowhere to be found.
The kittens wouldn't have survived the harsh weather, so the family brought them inside. While caring for the pair, they reached out to their local rescue, Tails High, for help. Volunteers quickly arranged for a foster family to provide the round-the-clock care the kittens needed.
"(The finders) kept them warm overnight until I could get them to their neonate foster," Tails High shared with Love Meow.

The kittens were just a few days old, incredibly small, and hadn't yet opened their eyes. They had somehow been left behind when their mother was moving her litter.
Alfalfa Sprouts or Alfie (tuxedo) and Avocado Toast or Avo (tabby) snuggled close, finding comfort in each other's warmth. "These tiny but very brave boys were rescued just before the snow began to fall, and they're warm and safe in an incubator because a foster said 'yes.'"

Knowing the two brothers were in good hands, the finders felt relieved, but they never forgot about the feline family that might still be out there braving the cold. They continued their search, hoping to bring them all to safety.
Meanwhile, Alfie and Avo stayed warm and cozy in their blanket fort. A few days later, Avo opened his eyes to see the world for the first time.

Both kittens made steady gains over the next few weeks. Though Avo trailed behind in weight, his purr motor never seemed to stop running.
"Avo may be tiny, but he is a smart little man," DeMarco, their foster carer, shared. "When I give him kisses on those cute little pink lips, he grabs my face back."

"Alfie is so feisty and cute. Avo is catching up to Alfie in size and holds his own in their wrestling matches. They are growing into their personalities every day, and it's so fun to watch."
While the kittens were doing well in foster care, the rescue received good news from the family who had found them. "They located the mom kitty with other kittens living under a shed in their yard, where she was staying warm," the rescue added.

"Avo and Alfie must have been left behind as she was trying to move the litter, and she stayed away because of the bad weather."
The rescue kept in touch with the finders, ready to offer any support for the feline family. "They've recently gotten all the kittens inside for socialization and have families lined up for them."

The mother cat turned out to be feral, but she's made the family's yard her sanctuary, knowing she can always find shelter and daily meals there. She's been spayed and will never have to endure another pregnancy.
"She will be happier in their yard, where they will care for her."

Meanwhile, Alfie and Avo have settled into their new foster home with Lauren, where they can socialize with other resident animals. They are becoming more playful each day, with Alfie leading the charge in their mischief-making.
He hops around like a bouncy ball, egging his brother on in their playful antics until his "battery" runs out.

It truly takes a village to save a cat. Thanks to many compassionate people, Alfie, Avo, and the rest of their family are thriving. The two brothers have met the cat-adoring resident canine, Theo, and are excited about the adventures that lie ahead.
