A few months ago, a calico cat was brought to Fix'Em Clinic in West Virginia, as a stray. When staff came in to check on her, they were surprised by what they saw.
The calico was cleaning and nursing a litter of kittens that she had just given birth to while she was in her carrier. They immediately contacted Itty Bitty Kitty Committee (IBKC), a rescue group in Charleston, West Virginia, and asked if they could take them in.
"They reached to us for help and we thankfully had a foster with an awesome momma/kitten suite available," IBKC said.

The cat mom, named Tulip, quickly made herself comfortable at her new abode. She never stopped caring for her kittens and was happy to get some help from her foster family.
"She was pretty friendly considering her babies were just a day or two old," Natalie Sampson, foster mom, told Love Meow.

Mama Tulip didn't mind when Natalie would handle or weigh her kittens. She was pleased to have a safe, quiet place to raise her litter and plenty of food and fresh water to go around.
She was very attentive, making sure her kittens were fed and loved.

Once they were old enough to venture out of the nest, she watched over them every step of the way.
She taught them how to eat big kitty food and play like a cat, and never missed a single opportunity to groom them.

The kittens grew up knowing love and comfort in a safe, warm home.
"She had the luxury of raising her kittens knowing that they would all be spayed/neutered before finding new homes - ultimately, not contributing to the pet overpopulation crisis," the rescue said.

Over the next few weeks, the kittens really blossomed and were ready to fly and find their forever homes.
Four of her kittens were quickly snatched up and are doing wonderfully with their new families.

Mama Tulip and her little panther kitty Violet are still available.
"Tulip is a talkative, affectionate girl and has a really sweet personality. She likes to knead the blanket I have in the room and she purrs the whole time! She and Violet love to play together," Natalie told Love Meow.

Nothing makes her happier than being with her humans, keeping them company.
The beautiful calico who came in as a stray but surprised everyone with her plus five, is more than ready to be loved and spoiled by a family of her very own.
