A tortoiseshell cat was found wandering alone in a neighborhood of Montreal, Canada for several months.
No one stopped for her until a kind woman noticed her pregnant belly and knew that she had to get her somewhere safe.

When Sindy tried to approach the cat, the expectant mama came running. It was clear that she had contact with humans previously and was very friendly and eager for pets and attention.
Sindy picked her up and brought her to Chatons Orphelins Montréal (COM), a local cat rescue group. "She was happy to have attention and let the lady pick her up and bring her to us," Celine Crom of COM shared with Love Meow.
They named her Melba.

The friendly stray was around one year old and on the verge of giving birth.
They paired her up with a foster carer, Stephanie, so she could have a safe and comfortable place to have her babies.

A few days later, Stephenie woke up to find Melba in labor.
"Melba was a bit anxious and kept meowing for her foster mom and wouldn't let her leave. Stephanie stayed with her to help her relax. Melba then gave birth to four babies with her foster mom by her side," Celine told Love Meow.

They are all boys: Alphonse, Edgar, Anatole and Napoleon.

"Melba stays in bed all day with her little ones nursing on her. She is a great mom," Celine told Love Meow.

The kittens are now two weeks old and thriving in foster care. Their eyes are open and they are starting to crawl.
"Melba is very sweet. She has total trust in her foster mom and lets her handle her babies and help her out."

"She was rescued from the streets just in time before she gave birth," Celine said.
Now all four kittens are healthy and plump. Mama Melba couldn't be happier!
