They say cats and rodents are natural enemies, but this cat not only doesn’t mind a little rodent, she has adopted a weasel and cared for it as her own.
A pregnant cat from Xinjiang Autonomous region in China found a little orphan weasel. “The [weasel] was brought home July 21…. Even after the cat gave birth to a litter of five kittens on July 23, they got along well with each other,” reported China Daily.
According to Sina News, when the cat mama was giving birth, she cuddled with the little weasel whenever it bumped into her belly. She never let it out of her sight wherever she went.
Cat mama nursed and cleaned the little weasel the same way she would with her own kittens. The little weasel played and got along well with the kittens. It might just think it is a kitten itself too.

So cute!
how adorable.
Uh, guys? Weasels are not rodents. They are carnivores/insectivores. Skunks, weasels, mink, and so on, they are all the same general type of critter and while not *closely* related to cats are far closer than the order Rodentia which includes mice, rats, beaver, woodchucks and the like.
A skunk is a rodent and not related to the weasel. But yes a weasel is not where related to a rodent.
A skunk is not a rodent, either. Rodents are defined by their continuously-growing incisors and certain other characteristics that a skunk does not have.

Cannot believe this! What a sweet Mama kitty!
That’s sweet, but I need to nitpick. Weasels aren’t rodents. They’re more closely related to skunks.
Now that is just precious.
If we just got along w/each other as well as animals do . . .
From Wikipedia: Weasels feed on small mammals, and have from time to time been considered vermin since some species took poultry from farms, or rabbits from commercial warrens.
love it!!! that last pic is so freakin’ cute!
LOVE IT!!!

Love is all!

A weasel is not a rodent. Weasel is related to the ferret and mongoose and is the herpestidae family. They have a similar digestive system to a cat and cannot survive without a certain amount of protien. They eat rodents and other small animals.
Actually, weasels are in the mustilidae family, along with ferrets, otters, badgers, and, yes, skunks. They are far more catlike than either rodents or dogs.
This is too cute. My 9 yo ginger boy had 3 best friends that were ferrets. They were inseparable. It was always fun watching them gang up on him during a play fight
