Lacey the alpaca grew up with a couple of cats. This is them cuddling up for a nap together .

“Lacey was our bottle fed alpaca and grew up with the cats… and thought she was one of them :-) She would cuddle up and sleep with them making the worlds warmest pile of fuzz,” said A to Z Alpacas.

I already have two spoiled cats! I have always wanted an alpaca or a llama and am wondering if my back yard woukd be suitable for one. How big do they get. I am a city slicker these days but when I lived in the country we had a ton of horses. Can they tolerate Houston’s hot summers?

In reply to chbrown21 … alpacas are herd animals. You cannot have just one (I’m sure the folks in this vid have other alpacas, just not pictured here). Alpacas can tolerate some heat, but they will need fans and a cool place to get out of the sun … remember, they are a mountain-dwelling animal. I recommend that you search for a local alpaca farm to get their advice.
