They waited for 8 years and finally were reunited with their missing orange tabby Ginger thanks to a man who found the cat and took her to an animal shelter for help.
Rick Benson had been feeding this orange tabby near his shop in Novato, California for about two months until he decided to take the stray in for a checkup at the Marin Humane Society.
It was then they discovered the cat was micro-chipped so the shelter quickly contacted the owners, Nancy and Stephen Payne.
The couple went to the shelter on Wednesday and were reunited with their beloved Ginger who ran out of the house almost a decade ago when she was just a kitten.
"Luckily, she was microchipped and was quickly reunited with her family. After being gone EIGHT years! That's a record for us here at MHS!"
