When a tiny ginger kitten was brought into Noah's Ark Animal Welfare Association (Trinidad, Colorado), they knew this little guy needed immediate medical care and a lot of TLC.
"He had been found as a stray by a local resident in our county. He was in very bad shape with URI and oozing wounds all over his back and some on his belly," Noah's Ark told Love Meow.
The scrawny little kitten was starving and exhausted, but he kept purring whenever the staff and the vet tried to help. His loving nature quickly took over everyone's heart.
"Our amazing veterinarian, Dr Falduto had to remove some of his fur to really get to his wounds and be able to clean and treat them good. Falduto determined the kitten had come into contact with acid and he also treated his URI."
Despite the trauma , the ginger kitten continued to show love and crave attention. His sweet spirit inspired his name Courageous.

"Courageous is quite the suckler, kneader and he loves to purr," Noah's Ark told Love Meow.
During his first weeks of recovery, he spent most of his time snuggling away in the lap of the Executive Director, Kim Riddle. While she worked at her desk, he would knead on the comfortable blanket, purring aloud.

With a lot of love, little Courageous regained his strong appetite, beat the respiratory infection and healed up very nicely. Riddle took him home to foster.
When McKenzie, the young daughter of the family, met Courageous, she knew in her heart that she wanted to do something to make the kitten feel more comfortable. So she came up with an idea.

McKenzie owns a few American Girl doll shirts, and little Courageous was about the size of her doll. She thought the clothes might provide the comfort and warmth that the kitten needed.
She gently put a shirt on Courageous, and right away he started to purr. He was so comfortable in the tiny outfit that he fell asleep cuddling next to a doll.

Courageous thrived in all the attention he received and enjoyed the big family that he could cuddle with and purr next to.
"He has made leaps and bounds, purring all the way!" the foster family said. "His hair has grown back, but be prepared, he still likes to suckle quite a bit."

Several weeks after they found Courageous, he has blossomed into a happy, healthy kitty.
