A week ago Kitty Adventure Rescue League shared a story on reddit about their rescue cat Bonnie, a deaf and blind cat with brain damage, and how nothing could stop her from getting in the holiday spirit. The story touched many people’s hearts over the internet. On this New Year’s Eve, a lot of gifts and love are pouring in for Bonnie from those who were touched by this brave little tortie girl.

“A week ago I posted a festive photo of Bonnie, our blind, deaf, and severely brain damaged cat, on reddit. The response was amazing. Since then we have been receiving a steady stream of generous donations for the cats. We are absolutely speechless.

We have received over 350 cans of food, 250 lbs of dry food, 200 lbs of litter, along with cardboard scratchers, carriers, carpet scratcher, beds, cleaners, puppy pads, air fresheners, and much much more!” (Facebook)

Bonnie the reindeer cat is blind and deaf, but she doesn’t let anything stop her from getting in the holiday spirit.

“She’s 18, blind and deaf, but still one of the coolest cats around,” said the human via reddit. “She knows where her food is, where her spot on the couch is, and where (the litter box is)…”

Despite all that, she is always playful and happy.

This is a heart warming story with a happy ending. Skunky the kitty had a rough beginning which caused her eyes to go blind, but the person who found her never gave up on her. Against all odds, Skunky survived and thrived.

Mantees wrote via reddit:

4 years ago while I was on holiday in the south of Italy (was living in the north) I found a tiny kitten desperately crying with the power of a thousands suns. I decided to take care of her during my holiday, so that she would be stronger and more capable to survive when I would leave back home. At the time she was obviously too young to survive alone under a 43 degrees Celsius (109 F) sun.

Her legs were clearly not okay, the mouth was also asymmetrical and impossible to close, probably because of a trauma, but the worst news still had to come. The following day I brought her to the vet who said that her eyes were closed not only because she was still too young but also because an infection ate both eyeballs. The vet also said that she was too weak, and that he thought that she could not survive.

In the following days my brother and I started to take care of her eyes infection, ears infection, intestine worms and fever, while keeping her warm, feeding her with warm powder milk every 4 hours and teaching her to follow the noise of our steps and clapping hands. After 15 days Skunky was still weak but alive, but I had to leave. So I changed my plane reservation to include a pet, and long story short, Skunky is now sleeping in my bed, with the body under my covers and her head on my pillow.

…what Skunky gives to me everyday is worth 10 times more what I might do for her.

They never gave up on Skunky and she got a second chance at life

She can navigate the house just fine:

A blind cat has developed a passion for playing the piano. They named him Stevie Wonder who is in foster care through Wood Green Animal Shelter in Godmanchester Cambridgeshire.

This 6-year-old furry musical talent was found in a garden. He likes to press on the piano keys “because the sound helps connect him to the outside world,” reported Daily Mail. “When Stevie, named after the famous blind American singer and pianist, was found he was flea-ridden, suffering from worms, had a hernia in his stomach and both of his eyes were missing. Vets are unsure whether his eyes were surgically removed or he was born without them.”

Beverley Street said via Daily Mail: “You wouldn’t think Stevie couldn’t see. He is so playful he is like a little kitten…. Stevie seems to enjoy the sound of the piano and often jumps up on my lap while I play. He has ventured onto the seat and the piano himself a few times for a little nose and a rather noisy play. Because he has no sight Stevie’s other senses are so heightened – his hearing is amazing.”
