Along the years, 11 cats have shared our apartments. In the beginning there were the Two Brothers, Obelix and Psi. Later Pim arrived, rescued from Gloria Marina where we found her injured. The vet advised us that she should stay home and be cared for for a couple of weeks. She’s still with us today.

Psi passed away before I got my first digital camera. Obelix lived a little longer, but went ahead in 2006. Only Pim remained. Those were peaceful times.

One fine afternoon, a Burmese named Mikita arrived in the apartment. She was not treated well by her previous owner. However, after she came to us, she adjusted quickly in her new home and put on some weight.

Kimberly from Vancouver, BC, Canada has been living with cats since she was little. Today she will share with us stories of two of her most beloved cats:

I grew up with cats, We’ve always had one ever since I was a baby. I’ve never had any cats like these ones though. I got them from a farm in south central BC, Canada (Osoyoos). They were two of a litter of 11, 9 of which survived. They were all nearly identical with the exception of their tails. They’re manx cats, so they ranged from no tail at all to one with a full tail.

I chose Lucky, who has a kinky bit of a tail, only about two inches long, and Bear. He has only a bit of a nub for a tail. They’re both classic tabbies, brown and black with creamy bellies, brown noses and yellow/green eyes. Bear is a bit darker with more black fur on his back.

Marser, like many Japanese people from the younger generation, is not able to have cats in his home, but thanks to the cat cafés, he gets to hang out with his favorite furry buddies and spend quality time with them every day.

“There are 4 cat cafés in Kyoto and I have visited them all. There are probably over 100 cat cafés in Japan now,” said Marser.

“I love playing with cats, relaxing with one on my lap and having a conversation with another cat lover at the cat café.”

Indio Jude met his hooman, Elkay a few years ago. It was love at first sight. When she looked at him, she knew that he was meant to be part of her family. She adopted him that day.

“Jude is such a wonderful cat. He is outgoing, and fearlessly approaches anyone who comes to our house. His eyes are so expressive, round and amber, and he immediately drawn attention from everyone he encounters,” said Elkay.

“Jude is such a love. I can’t imagine my life without him, and I’m so happy he’s part of my family.”
