Bluey the cat may have the world’s loudest purr, as loud as a subway train.

This 12-year-old cat has a purr that is louder than most cats, but she is a bit hard of hearing. “We have found that Bluey is a little bit deaf, so this might be why she has an incredibly loud purr because she can’t hear herself purr,” the Blue Cross charity said to SWNS.

“We’ve never had a cat in our care with a purr as loud as Bluey’s,” Claire Thomas, from the Blue Cross charity, said. “We thought it would be fun to see just how loud it is so we recorded it and it reached 93 decibels at its loudest, which is very impressive.”

“Though she’s surprisingly loud she’s a lovely cat and we’d hate for it to stop her being rehomed.”

“Bluey purrs all the time. She just has to see someone and she starts purring. She purrs when she’s playing and she purrs when she’s eating,” Thomas added. “We think Bluey is a little deaf but that doesn’t stop her enjoying life.

She’s such a happy, friendly cat and she will make such a loving companion.”

Bluey is located in a rehoming center in Cambridge waiting for her new home.

Meet Bluey the cat. She may have the world’s loudest purr measured at 93 decibels at its loudest. That’s almost as loud as a subway train.

This man fell in love with a shelter cat, Soren the tiger, and he tells the story in pictures.

“My girlfriend was just visiting the humane society when she saw him. She told me I HAD to see this kitten. So of course, I went,” Erik wrote via imgur. “We played with him for close to two hours, then he got a little sleepy.” That’s when he knew he couldn’t let the kitty go.

“The next day, I bought him home.”

They found little Soren at the shelter…

A 102-year-old woman found her a little companion, a 2-year-old shelter cat, when she held him in her arms for a photo.

“It just filled my heart,” Barbara Bates, the adoption coordinator of Montgomery County Animal Shelter said. “The kitty just snuggled right up to her. Matched her outfit she had on.” (Huffington Post)

“I said, ‘Iona, do you mind if I take your picture? And she said, ‘Honey, I sure hope I don’t break your camera.'”

Iona recently lost her cat that she had had for 10 years. Her son took her to the shelter last week. “I needed a companion,” she said.

When she cuddled with Edward, she was smitten.

“The way he cuddled upon my shoulder reminded me of the cat I’d just lost,” she said. “Oh my, he’s very happy.”

Iona’s son promised to take care of Edward and he would remain a member of the family should anything happen to his mother.

“My photo tells me Edward immediately sensed that Iona had lots of love and security to offer him,” Bates added.

“To me, an animal gives you life, that a person can’t, or material things can’t,” Bates said. “You come home from a stressful day, and they want to kiss on you. It just makes everything bad go away. So it just touched my heart. And I’m just glad that what I felt came out in the photo.”

A shelter cat named Tim started hugging a volunteer and wouldn’t let her go when they met at the Potsdam Humane Society in Potsdam, New York “Today I started crying at the animal shelter because one cat hugged me and nuzzled into my neck,” said Rachel Griggs via reddit.

“I’ve been volunteering at the Potsdam Humane Society, and last time I was there I held this one cat that instantly attached to me. He nuzzled into my neck and hugged me and kneaded his paws in my hair.” (via)

As a college student living on campus, she is not allowed to have pets in her dorm room, but the love and affection from the shelter cat has really touched her, and now she’s in the process of bringing the kitty to her mother’s home.

She was volunteering at the Potsdam Humane Society and a little tabby cat gave her the most affectionate hug.

Shelter cat picks his new dad.

“I adopted a kitten last week, and the shelter got a picture of our first meeting,” said Kyle via reddit.

They named him Mac. “Right now we call him Little Mac. The girlfriend says it’s for mathematician Colin Maclaurin (we’re both math teachers) but I say it’s for the Punch Out boxer,” he added. “He is adjusting very well. He gets along with the dogs great, and has tons and tons of kitten energy!” (Facebook)

“I pick you human.”

Meet Elfie, a kitty of small stature, who was rescued from a shelter in Alberta, Canada and found his way to a forever home along with his sister Gimli. Elfie and Gimli were born dwarf kittens, rather like Lil Bub the cat.

“They have genetic dwarfism. They were born to a ‘normal’ mother in a litter of ‘normal’ cats. They just happen to be a bit more cuddly,” Willeedee of Reddit wrote. “They were adopted by my friend and his wife (Elfie & Gimli’s foster parents) who are both big supporters of adoption.”

This is another reason why older shelter cats make wonderful companions. They KNOW.

“My roommate adopted an 8 year old cat from a shelter and he refuses to stop cuddling her.” (via reddit) “She adopted him from the county animal control and he had been there for 3 weeks. I think their policy was to euthanize after 6 weeks,” she added.
