Four tiny rescue kittens now have a new surrogate dad, a Golden Retriever dog named Ponzu who wouldn’t let them out of sight.

Ponzu has fostered many kittens. (See Ichimi the rescue cat). His fatherly instinct kicked in when they brought back the kittens. He stayed by the box the kittens came in, watching them sleep.

He cleans the kittens after feeding and keeps them warm. The kitties love their new dad and follow him around.

A tiny kitten was adopted by two gentle canine friends, and they became the kitty’s surrogate parents.

Leo the ginger boy found Jenny the cat when he was 10 days old. They became inseparable friends.

Ivelina said: ”I found Leo dumped into a trash bin along with his other 2 brothers/sisters. He was 10 days old… Jenny, 3 and a half year old cat, accepted him as her own kitty and they have been together ever since.”

A litter of five tiny orphans were found and brought to Fran W.’s care when they were only 10 days old. Meanwhile, a mother cat with her own 6 week old kittens came to Fran for a second chance. She offered the kittens to the cat mama, hoping she would take them in. She did and became the mother they didn’t have.

Without the mother cat, the mortality rate of kittens increases greatly, but thankfully, Hailey the cat mama stepped in to help along with the care and love from the foster family. Four of the kittens survived and thrived.

After Hailey was spayed, she went back to her foster home in a cone, but that didn’t stop her from supplying the motherly care and love to her adopted kittens.

All of the kitties including mama Hailey have found their forever homes thanks to Fran W., a volunteer rescuer and foster mom who has fostered 86 furry ones so far.

A litter of kittens were rescued by a once homeless dog who found them inside a box atop a trash heap, in a neighborhood near São Paulo, Brazil’s Jardim Aeroporto. “He gently tore the box apart, and then carried the kittens—one by one—back to his human’s home,” reported Pawnation.

The dog named Banzé (or “Scamp”) is also a rescue from the streets. “So when he heard the plaintive mews of an abandoned litter of kittens, he didn’t hesitate to save them, as he had once been saved.” (Pawnation)

A ginger mother cat , Sonya, took in a litter of prickly orphan critters. Four orphaned hedgehog babies found their new mom after they lost their own. The cat mama started nursing them alongside her own kitten when they were introduced to her. Her motherly instinct kicked in and she adopted them as her own.

The little hedgehogs not only have gained a new mom, but also a furry kitty brother. It is an unusual but very happy and adorable family.

A feral cat named Specter is the babysitter to many kittens from the barn. “Specter is a male cat that showed up here a couple of years ago. At first we only saw fleeting glimpses of him running to and from our barn (so I named him ‘specter’ – like a ghost). Eventually he became brave enough to come up onto our deck, where all of my cats get fed… He’s finally grown to trust us and is one of the sweetest ccats I’ve ever met,” said Liv, animal lover from Southern Indiana.

Specter is unlike other feral cats. He has a heart like a parent. Whenever he sees little kittens, he ears perk up and he takes to them as if they were his own. “We call him ‘The Babysitter’ because when the kittens were tiny, Specter would always lay with them. He would lick and groom them, and sometimes we’d even catch the babies trying to nurse off of him.” He likes to sleep in the hay with the kittens and “kisses them all over, just like a mother cat.”

“Specter is definitely at his happiest, when he’s surrounded by kittens,” Liv wrote.
