A week ago Kitty Adventure Rescue League shared a story on reddit about their rescue cat Bonnie, a deaf and blind cat with brain damage, and how nothing could stop her from getting in the holiday spirit. The story touched many people’s hearts over the internet. On this New Year’s Eve, a lot of gifts and love are pouring in for Bonnie from those who were touched by this brave little tortie girl.

“A week ago I posted a festive photo of Bonnie, our blind, deaf, and severely brain damaged cat, on reddit. The response was amazing. Since then we have been receiving a steady stream of generous donations for the cats. We are absolutely speechless.

We have received over 350 cans of food, 250 lbs of dry food, 200 lbs of litter, along with cardboard scratchers, carriers, carpet scratcher, beds, cleaners, puppy pads, air fresheners, and much much more!” (Facebook)

Lately there have been many kitty candidates (see Phoebe the cat) that were hoping to get the title to be the world’s oldest living cat. Guinness World Records just confirmed that Poppy the cat is crowned the world’s oldest living cat at 24. That’s 114 in human years.

Poppy was born in February, 1990. She is both deaf and blind. Despite her age and frailty, she’s still the boss of the house. Her secret to a long and healthy life is a good diet, plenty of exercise and some occasional kebab as treats.

Poppy is a tortoiseshell cat from Bournemouth, Dorset, the UK. Now she’s the successor to Pinky the previous world’s oldest living cat, from Hoyt in Kansas, US, who passed away last year.

Poppy was five years old when she was adopted by Marguerite Corner and her daughter Jacqui. She’s outlived many of their family pets, and is now living with four other cats, two rabbits and a hamster.

“We knew she is old but to be officially recognized is just great. We are all chuffed for her. I think all old cats deserve recognition of their achievement. As a family, we are so pleased that she is still with us as well.”

The oldest cat in history was Creme Puff who lived in Austin, Texas for an amazing 38 years and three days.

Zaza, a five year old tortie oriental cat, has been bringing cuddly toys from the neighbors’ to her humans. So far this klepto cat has snatched 17 soft toys in a month.

Daisy Ayliffee, Zaza’s human, initially thought she had an intruder coming into her home and dropping off teddy bears outside her bedroom door until one day she caught Zaza carrying a soft giant doughnut through the cat flap.

They don’t know for sure where the toys are coming from. Zaza is especially drawn to teddy bears. “It obviously has some sort of fetish, the nylon, synthetic material must somehow appeal to her.” (Daily Mail)

“She used to leave them outside the bedroom door for us, it was really funny. I came home one day and there were three massive teddy bears in the house.”

Before seeing Zaza in action, Daisy wasn’t convinced and thought the cat wouldn’t be bringing in massive teddy bears. “Then at the moment the cat came through the cat flap with a giant doughnut. I thought, this is really weird. Then another day I thought she had caught a mouse as something was squeaking but then I realized it was a squeaking teddy bear and it has just gone on from there.”

Daisy woke up one day and found an Eeyore bear in her bed. Another weekend, while they were having dinner, a big brown bear fell on their dining table. “It’s sweet the way she offered them as gifts.”

The couple have now relocated to a new area where there is a walled garden, so the cat’s burgling habit has been stopped. However, in the first week after they moved in, the little boy from upstairs lost his teddy bear as it had fallen from the window. It didn’t take long for Zaza to find it and bring it to her humans.

Zaza the klepto cat has brought home 17 toys she took from her neighbors.

Now, they have moved to a new place where Zaza can no longer practice her klepto habit, but it doesn’t stop her from picking up little toys that fall from the upstair neighbors. She’d bring them to her humans with pride.

Captain the tortie was as small as a fur ball when she was found underneath a house in between the floorboards and the insulation. They went under the house to retrieve the kittens and went to look for the mother cat after the rescue.

Captain was the only tortie out of the litter of five kittens and soon she stole everyone’s heart. While they were looking for homes for the kittens, they realized that they  couldn’t part with her. “My family ended up keeping Captain,” said Lauren M.

A tortie cat named Zoe wears quite a mustache. She isn’t afraid of showing off her undeniable black fringe. According to her website, Zoe is a mystical creature. “Not long ago, the Humble Unicorn Guild (HUG) examined the world and noticed that something was missing. Since necessity is the mother of invention, HUG decided to create a lady cat with a moustache whose unconventional beauty, wit and charm would delight the world..”

“The unicorns placed a single cat whisker and a photo of a famous moustachioed man into a flowerpot. With the help of magic, Zoe sprouted like a kitten camellia. Moustache unwavering and full of pep, young Zoe was excited to explore the world.”

Meet Zoe, a tortie girl cat, who wears a fabulous mustache.
