Afghan Kitties Give US Service Man A Sense of Home

A US Army corpsman found these little ginger kitties on a small FOB in Sangin Valley, Afghanistan. He became a frequent visitor to the kitties. Being away from his family, these little furry ones have given him the affection, comfort and feeling of home. “They made my 7 months fly by,” he said.

“I’m a corpsman and when I got out here was attached to a grunt unit from 29palms. These cats where kept by the Brit contractors and they would let me come over and hang out with them… they really cheered me up after a long day,” he wrote on reddit.

  17. Catherine says:

He’s a Navy Corpsman. Army has medics. We had a ginger kitten in the building we were in in Iraq. He was adorable and we named him Scud. He wasn’t as friendly as those kitties but he would come out of you had food.
As someone said ginger cats make everything better.

  18. Sue Bee says:

WHATEVER branch of the service this man is in, let’s thank him for his service to our country and NOT bicker with each other over what branch he’s actually in. Leave your ego at the door, ok? This story is about him and the cats and it’s a heartwarming, sweet story.
